Anybody else here who can't stand the sight of Reeves and Mortimer.Vic in particular in uniquely unlikable.

At the time David Brent made me laugh more than most but due to lack of anything new at the time it perhaps got over acclaimed.

The lads in the bar in Cheers were nearly always well portrayed.

Father Stack: What are we watching?
Other Priest: We're watching the sports day.
Father Stack: Lots of young men running around in shorts? That's the kind of thing you'd be lookin at.And I bet you like that too. You're sittin there imagining what they look like without shorts on. You're sitting there, imagining that, with a big smile on your face; you dirty fecker!
Other Priest: Well, I think you're a very rude man!
Father Stack: If you ever say that again, I'll put your head through the wall.!

    My Nominations:

Basil Fawlty "Oh, you're German, I thought there was something wrong with you"

Jim Royle - "I paid a quid for these bloody underpants and I've got fifty pence worth stuck up me arse"
Out for a spell, got neglected, lay on the bench unselected.

Past, probably Fletch alright, though it could just as easily be any of these lads.

Present, Douglas Reynholm has to be in there.

The last xmas special wiped him off the list for me. Jesus that was terrible

Good shout on Bilko jebus. Vastly underrated

On US sitcoms; Another vote for Georgie but if I had to pick one I'd go with GOB in Arested Development. Could pick any of that family though

On Uk sitcoms; Basil Fawlty is just about perfect.

Aye seen that and it was ok but I'd seen all the jokes before much as simpsons has been several years. And if you think about it there are a number of differences in rab c and homer

Hal from Malcolm in the Middle is hilarious at times.
Niles from Frasier and Arthur from King of Queens were also very good.

    Past:
George Roper from "George & Mildred"
    Basil Fawlty from "Fawlty Towers"
Jim Royle from "The Royle Family" (basing that on the series of episodes from '98 to '00)
Homer Simpson (wouldn't put him in present due to the character he is now, he just hasn't been funny since the 90's )

    Present:
    Eric Cartman
    Lou & Andy
    Coleman for Ireland

I knew I recognised him - he's in Darkplace, which got a mention earlier.

That's right, Matt Berry is the actor.
This character is Chris Morris' prodigal son in the hugely under-rated IT Crowd, the new head of Reynholm Industries, at least until he squanders it all on sexual harrassment suits, dollybird accountants and gold leaf in the water fountains!
