Anyone care to call them at this stage
ya it looks as if div 3 is going to go rite to the wire. shapin up for a very nailbiting finish. Im ruling corofin b out of the running for the title for definate and will safely say they haven't a chance of finishing 2nd really. If we win our remaining 2 games we'll be guaranteed 2nd place.

im goin to put my prediction out there, my head and heart really fancies this title to go to a playoff between ourselves and newmarket b

ya heard ye gave rovers a good game and had em worried!! if he is out i would rule ye out of the running for top 2 spot as from looking at top scorer info on claresoccer.net ye really heavily depend on 2 players to get ye goals and he has over double the other lad's tally so id be worried if i was ye, looked as if he had golden boot wrapped up

fair enough prediction....was at both newmarket b and bunratty b games and thought bunratty were just about better side...very unlucky not to take away 3 pts in bunratty, thought they were better team in McDonagh park also, but newmarkets form has been excellent all season bunratty drew a few games they probably should have won.....Kilkishen are still in with shout but they have a few tough games left, if they draw even one they will be in promotion spot....

What do you want to talk about planners, wouldn't it be easier for you to post up something that can be discussed and debated rather than throwing sly digs

Chappie - this wasn't a sly dig - It's just that when you get over weight thugs going out on a Sunday " for the laugh" and then coming on here trying to defend the 3rd division its just a bit laughable - I've seen a few games in the Pub league and the standard / condition of the players is a farce - although I appericate alot of these players just want a game but why inflict the torture of talking about it on this forum
Does it really matter who wins this league ?

Not really and I personally have little or no interest in the third division but would much rather see lads on here discussing it rather than seeing this thread slip back off the first page

Planners you are entitled to your opinion but what facts have you to back up the thugs label, has there been more players sent off in the third, games abandoned, riots etc.
The age old adage if you have nothing good to say then don't say anything at all.

Reading through the posts and i tend to agree with Planners, Div 3 is the equivalent of Junior B Hurling, an outlet for overweight has-beens trying
to regain their lost boyhood, you only have to go see a game to see the
vast difference in not only fitness levels but skill as well, as planners said
the 3rd Division is full of thugs and hoofers who probably enjoy a fag and a can of Tennants at half time
You think you can catch Keyser Soze? You think a guy like that comes this close to getting caught, and sticks his head out?

Planners and KS , the title of the thread is the Clare League Season 2008-09 which to me encompasses all of Clare Soccer, if you feel you should have an elitist thread for the "footballers" of Clare feel free to open one .

I think you are being a bit harsh on your description of the players in the 3rd Division . The Premier in Clare is no standard to be blowing your trumpet about , there a few players in each club that are decent , some good but the most are distinctly average. To describe some of the players in the 3rd division as has-beens is quiet funny as it implies that they at one point had. Something that won't be said about alot of the premier players today when they inevitably slide down the divisions to continue to play football.

i agree some teams in the third division do go out just to hoof the ball...but are you trying to say that "premier" teams dont go out and hoof the ball?? i have seen certainly seen it.....didnt rineanna go out to fairview and they might has well have been wearing a green jersey with O2 written on front....all they seemed to do was kick for touch

    Wink

Ali - not sure what game you were watching put with regards to tactics the manager got it spot on and Rineanna nearly pulled it off - in fairness to the 3rd / 2 nd divisions there is a place for everybody and teams are in these divisions because this is the standard they are at - mostly made up of B teams who "support" their A team - with regards to style and tactics I afraid these divisions are lacking

Oh and the premier is full of non-smoking non-drinking virgins is it??Yourself and Planners are typical of the sad cases who think playing PremierLeague in Clare is the be all and end all of things.Truth is most of ye wouldn't make the grade in Limerick so ye try to make yereselves feel better by slagging the 3rd division.Iwatched Kilkishen(3rd Division) vs Rineanna and there wasn't a huge gulf in class.Rineanna were hanging on for a finish.

I've seen Rineanna play a few times this year and they seem to be lacking a small bit alright hence being out of contention for the league and possibly fighting relagition -
Moving on can I ask if the manager is responsible for a team failing / winning or is it because of the players - looking at Bunratty it seems to be the quality of the players rather than the managment set up that has them in their current position - any taughts ?

no manager is not at fault fully but has to share in responsibility for team failing.....bunratty had practically same team last year as this year with the addition of 1 or 2 players look at there position last year......

Keyser Soze obviously hasn't been watching too many games this
season if he thinks the 3rd Division is full of overweight has-been's.
The majority of the teams in the division are young teams
with some players who have just as much talent as those in divisions above. The big difference is in fitness, but that's improving,
and expect there to be alot of surprises in the next couple of years.
If you ask me, some A-team players could count themselves lucky
not to be labelled with the "has-been" (or in some cases "has-never-been")

As for the destination of the title,
we (Newmarket) have a relativley easy run in with
the exception of a trip to Kilkishen so I would expect us to clinch it.
The Bunratty vs Kilkishen game will have a big bearing on how the final table looks...

Itl be tough alright. Its not for defenite tho. He's got a scan today so he'll know how long he's out.Kilkishen have to win all their games to stand a chance.Have a tough run in tho.

You would think Newmarket have done enough to win it (walkovers aside). It looks like Bunratty and Kilkishen to fight it out for 2nd and 3rd with the game between them being crucial.

Yeh he fractured his kneecap against Bunratty and cant play for a while.Stand in Goalie was doing well till the horror that was the 8-1 mauling against Corofin.
