westport v st peters and erris v pike rvs

was at the westport v st peters game today and i have to say it was one of the best games of football i have seen in a while.
entertainment value was very high and also the standard of football was excellent. st peters went down to 10 men after 20 minutes but they defended heroically and scored two excellent goals.
westport aswell played excellent football in stages and scored two excellent goals. will count themselves highly unlucky to loose the game.
standard of penalties was excellent too. 15 out of 16 penalties scored.
it was a great advertisement for the game.

also, well done to erris on beating one of the favourites for the competition. they will make it tough for any team in the country down there. if i was still in the competition, i would be hoping to avoid them away.
still quite surprised that they got this far though, they just about avoided relegation from the mayo super league this year. no one would have bet that they would have got further than celtic and westport this year but thats what cup football is all about!!!!

Having lost Wayne Fitz so early and with Nipper out with broken leg it was a heroic performance by Carrick

Boro were well worth their victory yesterday, that save Glasheen pulled off at 2 - 0 was exceptional, 3 very well taken goals & a very well disciplined & aggressive display from Janesboro, then again its only another game & the boro boys are well aware of this !!! feet are firmly on the ground, nothing to be carried away with !! In the last 16 & deserve to be

Good result for the 'Boro yesterday , hardly surprising though as St Michaels are an average side who haven't even threatened to win anything of note in a long while. Why they carry such a strong reputation is beyond me , and the fact that they have a number of ' internationals ' in their team is baffling too , their centre half is one of the most capped Irish junior internationals ever too!!! Now i feel better

by all accounts maestro ,mr walsh "chawkey" as they call him plays nearly every game for ireland.meant to be a great pal of gerry smith.i certainly dont think its his ability thats still getting him capped anyway. good player in his day but he must be 35 at least and from what ive seen of him over the last year or 2 he certainly isnt international standard anymore

great win for janesboro alright.is alan barry eligible for fai now leather or is he cuptied? fair play to boro management.daithi seem to have gathered the wagons over the last few weeks and they have got some good results.it was looking bleak for a while but he has steadied things fairly well recently.is conor lynch still giving daithi a hand leather?a great coup for boro to get barry back

I would like to wish Fairview all the best in the rest of the competition. I heard you deserved to win.The team that beat Redcastle last year went on to win it.So you never know Fairview, maybe this is your year.Good luck.

A few pike players lost their composure towards the end of game and there was one incident with a pike player squaring up to iorras centre half after match, handbags really.Didnt see any pike players fighting with each other, have to say nearly all of pike players were very gracious in defeat.

Paddy power in roxboro took a hit this weekend, most of the boro team and supporters had money on them at a good price...I wonder what price thay are to win it?
