Sunderland coming in August according to the Leader. Don't know if they will be much of a draw without the Cult of Roy worshippers coming out though

first up im embarrassed for you that you cant see "flyers" thrown up by the irfu such as chelsea, arsenal, barcelona and celtic to maximise the stadiums potential. why would Limerick Football Club want to maximise the stadiums potential??? as has been explained on numerous occasions to similar non limerick supporters such as yourself, Limerick Football club (for that is what we are called) are the senior team in the juristicsion and as the senior team under the governance of the governing body (FAI) would first have to be consulted or included in any such senior game being held in the juristicsion. Limerick have only mentioned one as far as i can see, sunderland as a real possibility.

We are one step away from becomming the greatest Limerick club in the leagues history, which as you know is ****ing off the muck ballers who come on here spouting ****e. Ye have a transfer embargo on ye, the land you acquired wasnt theirs to give, leo is gay etc etc lol
but due to the economic situation we are also one step from going out of business. The latter is what several posters on here are wishing. naturally as a volenteer with the club i will strive to keep my club afloat and continue to occupy the small little minds of many of you on here (obsessed)

I assume we will have to pay a guarantee and rent Thomond Park. We could lose money but assuming a decent crowd and corporate sales etc we should so well. Other clubs have done well on prematch dinners and ticket sales.

It is more of a risk now without the Irish contingent at Sunderland. Niall Quinn is trying to build a fanbase here so it all depends on the terms of the deal. Sunderland may well have a reasonable match fee or may be on a percentage.

Sunderland have actually played Limerick in Thomond Park before and the attendance was quite poor if I recall correctly. However many of their current fanbase here were supporting Liverpool or Man Utd then.

As for what we have in common, we don't need that to play a friendly match. It is an opportunity to promote the club and make some money.

Anyways, hopefully the whole Sunderland thing goes ahead, cant see 20 odd thousand turning up for it however, still it would be be great.

Reastically Sunderland would attract around 10,000 I reckon. However, at a minimum of �35-40 a ticket, programme sales, merchandise etc, the club should make a small few quid. Good for the profile though.

I think the big money making opportunity is a corporate dinner or lunch. Ideally get Niall Quinn to speak. Tommy Lynch played for both clubs so he is an option too.

I believe Sunderland see these trips as an opportunity to boost their fanbase as opposed to a revenue exercise.

I'd hope we'd make quite a few quid because there is a risk involved here with the outlay.

Other ideas

1) Sell the tickets at a home game in the ground 45 minutes before kickoff.

2) Include the cost of entry into our next home game in the ticket price.

Frankly, that's a great idea.

The potential to make huge advances here is very real and it shouldn't be wasted.

i have to say its a sad state of affairs in "sporting limerick"when you would expect over 10,000 to watch a second rate english team and we are lucky to get 500 every second week at a quarter the cost for a ticket....

i dont think in the current economic climate we could charge ppl �35 or 40 quids. Id expect Limerick to go for under 20 quid its Limerick and the whole town is unemployed.
