Was in Glasgow at the weekend and the rumours of a McGeady/Strachan fallout have certainly risen to a new level.

McGeady played poorly against Hearts. The extra yard of pace he discovered last season seems to be gone. The Hearts RB (Neilson I think) was booked very early on in the game, yet McGeady rarely troubled him, never beat him for pace and went down looking for soft frees on a number occasions. The body language was all wrong to me - which was disappointing to see.

Im now beginning to think that if a decent offer comes in January he'll be off. And by decent I mean £4-5m upwards. If a £10m offer came in Id snatch their hands off and Ive always been a big McGeady supporter.
I thought you were off the drink Ronnie?

I've heard through friends that he is off too although more likely to a premiership club. Middlesboro as a replacement for Downing (if he goes to Tottenham) is one possibility.

I think Bayern is a better team than Celtic, but is the German League far superior than the SPL?

    Is that a joke?

Yeh it's looking likely that he might leave.

McGeady on the verge of Celtic exit
Exclusive by HUGH MacDONALD, Chief Sportswriter

Aiden McGeady is poised to leave Celtic after a row with manager Gordon Strachan.

Top-level talks will take place between club directors today after the Irish internationalist and the Celtic manager clashed in the wake of Saturday's 1-1 draw with Heart of Midlothian at Parkhead. The most likely outcome is that the player will be allowed to leave Glasgow with England or Bayern Munich in Germany, his most likely destinations.

Schweinsteiger signed a new contract with Bayern over the weekend so I doubt they're still interested.

Aiden McGeady to meet Celtic chiefs over dressing room row - DAILY RECORD
GORDON STRACHAN and Peter Lawwell will today decide how to punish Aiden McGeady after the little Celtic winger's big mouth got him into more trouble with his boss.

Record Sport first revealed in September that McGeady's stormy relationship with his manager had reached crisis point after the Republic of Ireland internationalist was barred from a team inquest into an Old Firm derby defeat at Parkhead because he couldn't be trusted to hold his tongue. And his inability to hold back resurfaced on Saturday when he snapped at Strachan during a heated dressing room discussion after the 1-1 draw with Hearts.

It's believed Strachan dragged the winger into the doctor's room at Celtic Park where the two clashed over the player's dressing room outburst.

The manager and chief executive Lawwell are scheduled to meet this afternoon to thrash out what should be done with the 22-year-old.

Senior Celtic sources were predicting last night that McGeady will be hit with a fine for breaching Strachan's strict disciplinary codes but stressed this latest flashpoint does not mean he will be put up for sale in January. However, it is now clear if a big-money offer is tabled in the New Year then Strachan may be tempted to cut his losses with a player who refuses to toe the line.

Record Sport understands McGeady was not the primary target of Strachan's outburst and that others, such as Georgios Samaras, Scott Brown and Gary Caldwell were all singled out for even more savage criticism as the manager conducted his on-thespot post-mortem.

But while the trio accepted responsibility for their part in a dismal performance, McGeady rallied against Strachan when his contribution was scrutinised.

We can also reveal some senior players attempted to shout McGeady down to stop him from becoming embroiled in a blazing row with the boss but even though the flashpoint was defused relatively quickly, Strachan feels his authority has been undermined once too often by a repeat offender.

Our source said: "The most irritating thing for the manager is it's always Aiden who has too much to say. There were others who took a real pounding from the gaffer and, in comparison, Aiden got off relatively lightly.

"But he was the one who took exception to what was said and, as usual, he had to have the last word.

"The rest of the players understand that Gordon Strachan is the reason they have won three successive titles and, accordingly, they show him the respect he deserves."

It is expected the Celtic manager will make a public announcement in the next 24 hours after his showdown talks with Lawwell.

Ok its the Daily Record - A Red Rag - but more fuel for the fire. It looks like MGeady is not the only one with a loose tongue in the dressing room.

Will be interesting to see if Strachan does make a public statement though.

As I said in an earlier post McGeadys body language was all wrong on Saturday - It was Ronaldo-esque whinging, arms flailing, feeling hardly done by when in reality he was just having a stinker.

It will be interesting to see how this unfolds.......

PS: Sorry if I should have posted a snippet and a link but I just got the article in an email.

maybe now he'll step back into line, Im first to admit I've defended him on here regularly but purely for football reasons, hes only 22 and has no right picking arguements with strachan, like him (strachan) or not. Will he take it like a man or throw the toys out??
Havin a weekend away is quite frankly, lettin ur team mates down!

Rumors have been going on that Madrid are after Ribery though as they need a winger due to Arjen Robbens affections for the First Aid Room and the fact that they dont actually have another one anyway, so maybe they are looking at him with that in mind

Can't see him playing for Celtic again now. He has been banned for two games but more importantly he has been suspended from training for two weeks. Therefore he will lost a hell of a lot of fitness. This will bring him up to the January transfer window where I believe he will be sold.

If Celtic get a good offer for Aiden then I am sure he will be off.It may be for the best and I hope Aiden can get a transfer to a club that can be an attacking force without expecting Aiden to do too much defensive work.
To be honest how much more can Aiden achieve at Celtic.I do not mean any disrespect to Celtic but he needs to test himself in a better quality league than the scottish league.
Hopefully Celtic can get a good price and it may be a good deal for everyone.

I would be delighted to see McGeady leave Celtic and move to the Premiership/ Bundesliga to further his career, he's only 22 and already has a wealth of experience in club football.

Hopefully Darren O'Dea can get away from Celtic in the Transfer window to a decent Championship side and get his career back on track.

McGeady's agent said he's going to appeal the suspension and it seems he's still furious. If he wasn't a Celtic fan I think it'd be a transfer request he'd be handing in and not an appeal. I can't see Strachan letting him back without an apology so they'll need someone to mediate here as Aiden hardly feels he owes an apology if he's appealing.

Link to an audio interview with his agent here:
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/foot...ic/7783858.stm

Interesting answer to the last question. Looks like his future at Celtic might depend on this appeal. And if some panel overturn this decision I can't see Strachan accepting him back.

If Aiden leaves Celtic in January, which now looks likely, he can't do much better than Bayern Munich. This could only be beneficial to his development as a player and therefore to our prime concern - the national side. If he were to go to England, the only club in the 'top 4' I could see him challenging for a starting berth, at this point in time, would be Liverpool.

Aside from the 'top 4' and perhaps including them, the premiership side I most like to see him join would be Aston Villa. For me Villa are a very progressive club and are building something promising for the future. They are only a few ingredients short of being solid contender for a top 4 spot in my opinion. They may even finish fourth this year - at the expense of Arsenal. It's still a small chance but one that is growing as the season progresses - as much a result of their own advances as it is of Arsenal's woes.

One ingredient Villa need is a number 10/someone to play off a main striker. This is McGeady's future as a player. He is not a natural winger. He has alluded to this himself, as has Martin O'Neill and our own Trapattoni. Trap said that he did intend to use McGeady in this role at some point in the future.

He is our most naturally talented player and could with the proper dedication and if used properly go on to be a world class player. You don't attract the interest of a club like Bayern Munich if you don't have that potential. Regardless of his present circumstances at Celtic, it is time for him to move on anyway. Hopefully it will be to a club like the above two, for himself and for us.

He'll be off to Middlesbrough in January I reckon.

He should have gone to Sunderland this past summer, they were offering him and Celtic big money. Maybe Roy would still have a job.

I guess if Ribery moves on as has been rumoured he might be a replacement. That would be a great situation for him.

Don't see why it'd have made much difference given that he couldn't man-manage the rest of the squad.

Reckon O'Neill will take him to Villa if he goes anywhere.

McGeady is going. There is hope he may stay with him appealing his suspension but he won't stay with strachan there . If a move was to happen which now seems inevitable, then i would prefer he went to the bundesliga as he would prosper their more than in the premiership.

Sounds like it is being treated as death in the Celtic family.
(How did O'Neill handle those dressing room no holds barred encounters?)

Did he call Strachan a Scottish cxxt,
after Strachan called him a traitor to his country?
In the affair now known as Strapan

McGeady has shown well since Trap took over. It will be interesting to see if he is transferred and how he will adapt to another club.

Would Trappatoni recommend him to the Italian clubs if they asked his opinion.
The time is right for Aiden to go as he already has played a large amount of first team football for Celtic
