No but their are some clubs in LOI that have facilities and we dont,we seem to be startin from the top and tryin to buy success first without anyone thinkin of failure. If we had a local team on a minimum wage and i mean minimum we would get the same misreable attendences we are getting now.John/Conor Meade,Chubbs,Barrett,Daly I bet would all play for their hometown club without big wages and theirs plenty youth available in the town to add to this,we are heading to the first division we could compete in this division with a local side.

all well and good marty, but how do you build a team when you cant even get a traing pitch, on an island with a few hundred fields, we cant even get a corner, even if we try nobody is realistic, they all expect property prices for recreational land which is and should be much cheaper, what do we need, our last training pitch was 2 acres (but the area was much larger as we didnt own all the enclosed area),
Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds.

I totaly agree with you, but with people loosing pay or holiday from work they have to get payed for lost time. If a player takes a day from work he would loose approx 80 euro plus he must pay for his fuel to get to training twice a week plus match day so they need to get paid 150 euro plus his match fee total 250 euro for the week. Then the player must pay tax & p.r.s.i so he is lucky to take home 150.
What do your average player recieve 300 euro a week maybe then take tax ect.. it would not cover a night out.
Your main problem is support from businesses and fans not enough through the gates to cover your weekly expenses.
I was going to say set up a fundrasing commette but what happened last week I think that will be a no go area.
Next year you need players to play for nothing only expeses which are tax free so only players you mentioned above plus the reserve players that travelled accross the country this season for no money or expenses.
Clear your debths and start afresh in 2010 season as a professional club.

My sentiments exactly EXPENSES ONLY,im just saying we have absolutly nothing to gain from pumping money in now when you look at what last season cost us (if they ever give us an actual figure on that) we would be much better off clearing our debt and letting it publicly known we are looking for pitches

    Angry Training pitch

Just with regard to a training ground or pitch for the youths, Iwas recently speaking to a member of the gaa and he informed me that ramblers have full use of a pitch up by the water tower. This pitch is next to the gaa's pitch and has been provided by the local builder. The pitch is now overgrown and unused. Why is this so...

I know I have remained off here for sometime but I feel it appropriate that at this stage I salute all the players for really giving their all in trying to stay in Premier League Football. Over the past number of weeks we have all been taken on a rollercoaster ride, and while we didn't stay up, I want to thank all involved for been so professional in what were difficult circumstances off the field.

In looking forward to next season, I would like to suggest that we look at recruiting more "local" players. Too many local players have been let go in the past for various reasons, but if we were to take a leaf out of Galway's success, it is that they brought in more local players for less money and more importantly created a local attmosphere. There are many talented players around and I believe with the right approach, they would be delighted to don the claret and blue.

U need to spent a least 1000k just to level it and the same to make it playable with a proper playing surface. If they had the money and now the lotto grants are being stopped so u will have to come up with all the money

Apparantly the club is in talks with local businesmen about rebuilding for next year this money would be much better spent on facilities rather than a first div team, great been a smart ass i wonder if your the same in person

well lads we could ask the FAI for a loan, and put the ground up as collateral, develop a good facility that can be used by the community, say artificial pitches, one big one, and 3 or 4 7-a-side ones, with a proper full size regular pitch, you would make money renting out the pitches, and you only need the full normal pitch for training 2 nights a week so it could be used for other things,

obviously funding is the issue, but this is what drogheda had planned, till it fell through, its the right idea, look at the long term it will pay itself off in time, you just have to be carefull with your money,

Jesus you bite easy! Relax bud, i'm just voicin' an opinion.

Ok, so it would be great for the club to develop this pitch. But first priority has to be paying off debts, whatever money comes in for next season will have to go on making the club solvent first. Then we can look at development work...
