The U.16s recovered to beat Moyne Villa 4-2 today to advance into Round Four of the Barry Cup after the brutal slaughter last week at the hands of Celtic. U.12s lost 3-1 to Ballinrobe Town in the Norton Cup. The wheels of the Castlerea Celtic bus did not go round and round the full distance to Westport as it broke down, meaning no game for the U.14s. U.16Bs beat the Snuggies 3-2 in the league.

Gallagher, Tom O'Connor, Joe Lawless, Martin Geraty, Gillespie, David Cameron, Danny Scahill, Stevie Gavin, Ronan O'Boyle, Dessie O'Malley, Sean McHale.

Think Emmet Payton or James Jennings from Manulla will be in goal.

Joe Lawless or Paul Walsh right back. Stevie Ryan and Martin Geraghty centre backs. Left back is a tough one to call, Sean Kelly from Balina or maybe Tommy walsh.

Midfield is 2 hard to call. Andy Neary will have to play as he is one of the best players in the league!! He may be deployed at left back. Lets say Stevie Gavin and Neary in the centre, Cameron on the right and R O' Boyle on the left!!

Seany Mchale and Dessie O Malley upfront.

Stil players like Fergus Quinn, Danny Scahill, Paul Fitz, Gerry Mcloughlin left out!!!!!!

Forgot about neary, he might get in at left back, stevie ryan isn't consistent enough in the games I seen him play this year so bench for him. Paul Fitz might get in front of seanie mchale, but dont think there is anyone from premier division on the squad!

So you don't think the Celtic lads have a chance!!!! Get with it lad, Dec Kilkelly is after all the Celtic manager. Stevie Ryan will start at centre back, Neary will start and I would be confident that it will be in midfield as Stevie Gavin is unavailable and finally as good as Fitzy is he wouldn't have a chance of makin the team before Sean Mchale. Fact!!!!!!!!!

Stevie Ryan is nowhere near as good as Martin Geraty or Joe Lawless at centre back. 352 will agree with that too!

If Gavin is missing then Stevie Ryan will get in alongside Danny Scahill. Andy Neary might start but left back is the only hope for him.

Get out of your celtic bias and think best in Mayo, DK maybe biast but not so much as to overlook Danny Scahill...

I said in my original team that Sean McHale would start, if you read it properly, and was saying that if Fitzie was in the squad his only hope of making it would be at the expense of McHale, which stands to reason!

whipitin is not a celtic man he is not being bias at all to celtic, just stating what he thinks, everyone is entitled to their own opinion!!! dec isn't going to pick celtic players either just because he is manager of celtic, i think he's a bit more cop on than that dec isn't like that, he will pick who he thinks is best to have in the team!!!

gallagher no way going to be starting, tom o connor, there are farbetter players in the league than him!!! andy neary should definitely start somewhere and who is gillespie??? you obviously don't know much about football i can guarantee you the team will be a lot different to that team!!!

    Im giving my opinion!

James Gillespie played oscar traynor in 2007, dont know if he's round now these days but a good player, was good at free kicks if I'm thinking of the same guy! Maybe you have a point about him not being in the team but Tom O'Connor was one of Mayo's best players last year! He will start, so will joe lawless, geraty, scahill, gavin, o'boyle, o'malley and mchale. Other 3 are likely to be cameron, neary and who knows about the keeper but gallagher has played at this level before so he'd be favourite. But I dont know anything about the mayo league do I?

Who do you think should be in it instead of these or in addition? Cant think of any centre back wannabes or centre midfielders that are good enough to challenge to get in the team anyway

Goes hiding in big games like against Westport this year!

Loses his temper too easily and then ends up putting in rash challenges and letting his team down!

Scahill and Gavin are consistent players, sporting, good passers and leaders in the middle of the park.

When Stevie Ryan grows up he might be like them but until then he remains a decent club player

    Mayo panel

The Mayo squad is made up of the following players: Emmet Peyton, Tom O’Connor, Eugene Gorman and Mick Duffy (all Ballina Town), Stephen Ryan, Ger O’Boyle, Ronan O’Boyle, Andy Neary and Sean McHale (all Castlebar Celtic), David Reilly and Brendan Nallen (Iorras Aontaithe), James Jennings (Manulla), Stevie Gavin and Paul Walsh (Snugboro United), Alan McDonnell (Straide & Foxford Utd), Joe Lawless, Danny Scahill, Dessie O’Malley, Martin Geraghty, Gerry McLoughlin and David Cameron (all Westport United)

Above is the named panel in the papers this week. it also says that gavin is not available for the first game.

I think everyone should get behind the mayo team as it would be good to see them do well this year.
