....the sound of chickens coming home to roost
Thursday October 09 2008
Players at Drogheda United have been told the club cannot guarantee their wages this week.
The news was given by club chairman Vincent Hoey, who met the squad this evening.
The side had hoped to secure a new ground near City North hotel between Drogheda and Balbriggan, but this deal has now fallen through.
The club had previously thought it would secure its future with a new stadium at Bryanstown, south of the town.
Drogheda have two home games scheduled over the next five days, against Bohemians in the league tomorrow night, and against Irish League side Glentoran on Monday in the Setanta Cup.
From reading the ccfc forum it seems as though cork city will struggle to get a uefa license as well.
We deserve something after getting shafted over the last number of years.

Always remember, just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they're not out to get you.
Ouch.....I believe this truly is a case of "houses built on poor foundations" - everyone in the league knows that the likes of Drogs, cork, Bohs and pats wage bills are totally unsustainable and has been discussed by the financial geniuses on this forum and now it is all unfolding and people are surprised?????
The FAI have totally mismanaged this situation - the financial health of the leagues clubs were held in check by the monthly accounting practices and wage cap?????
My 4r5e!!!! Every one knew it was a mess and this will badly affect the league for some time to come!
Faz must be kicking himself...
In all seriousness, although we could all see the Drogheda situation coming, it's not right to laugh at another club's misfortunes. It's like a blind man laughing at one who's deaf.
Drogheda, at least, had a plan that they gambled their future on. We gambled ours on......... what exactly?
