Given all the breaches in licensing this year, the structure won't be obvious next year.
With team like Bohs and Cork, surely the latter can't go unpunished. With rumors of Cobhs return, and with Salthill in the final of the A Championship, how would that work I wonder?
Just seeing what yer views on the topic are like.
Don't forget there's serious talk of Derry going back to the Northern Ireland league. A major revamp is needed.Would love to see a one division 18 team league.

Initially it probably would but with the financial levelling of the playing field due to the recession and bad financial management by the likes of Bohs, Cork, Drogs etc which should lead to properly implemented salary caps the gap will decrease. Limerick people are generally success following whores and if the big boys are coming to town regularly then our attendances would increase, and the knock on effect would filter right through the club.Quote:

Only problem is if it ever happened, Limerick would have to be getting good results very regularly or the people won't come to watch. As joesoap says Limerick people will only follow success. The pull the matches against the bigger irish teams would have, would wear off pretty fast if the results weren't following it.Quote:

I think that the novelty of playing Bohs/Rovers/Cork/whoever would wear off fairly quickly in the city too and while our attendances would certainly improve I don't think that the long-term gain would be as pronounced as a lot of people seem to.

no not blaming them for the weather but if they planned it better they could have put either a tent there for the kids instead of letting them stand in the cold and wet for an hour and a half or they could have given them the gear a few days before and let them come down changed 15 minutes before the game, how about that, would that have not been a better planQuote:

but as Ive said already besides those 2 issues, it was a great day, I enjoyed the game and enjoyed the day, i hope more people that were there for the game come out and support Limerick Fc next season,
This was Limerick's first venture into something like this and they'll learn from there mistakes.Lots of credit to them for makin a good effort and hope to see more of the same in future.
As far as I know, this Liverpool game was only 100% official to Limerick about 2-3 weeks ago. I think Pat O' Sullivan said that at the dinner in the Strand on Sunday.Quote:

It was on the radio this morning that Salthill Devon will come in for Kildare next season.
Three league clubs in Galway sounds like a lot for the area to support.

It isn't, in my opinion, enough of a deterrent to clubs to have a team/company fold and a newly established team allowed to join the first division. Especially a team like Derry who might end up with only one season out of Premier division football.
If however the FAI deems them the same Derry as before, I hope they get hit with a points deduction which means they won't get promoted, thus ensuring that they are out of the premier for at least two seasons (which I think would be enough of a deterrent for the future).
Ya id agree with that either start them in the A championship or take points the same happened to Leeds when they folded the holding company.
That would be the right thing to do,....therefore...
I understand the league needs Derry though, perhaps it would be a risk to the league to start them in the A, as much as I would not like to compete with them for promotion in the first this season. :cool:
I very much doubt Derry will be turfed out to the A Championship. Not too bothered though, as it is a good away trip to look forward to, and we are going to walk this tin pot league in 2010 with Purcell all signed up.
