Barrett was WELL inside the Pat's half when the ball was passed. The only issue is whether more than one Pat's defender was also in the half at the time. If there are fewer than two of the defending team's players in their own half, the offside rule is void.Quote:

He looked well offside to me, didn't matter too much I don't think Pats would have scored in the 20 or so seconds left. Longford deserved the win.
Really, does it matter? Pats weren't going to score, there were only a few seconds left. The match was basically over. Longford deserved the win. Fair play to them.
of course it doesn't matter, but i was just wondering if it was offside and, if so, how come none of the 'experts' commenting on the match spotted it. that's all :cool:

It was 2 on 1 in longfords favour in Pat's half of the field when the ball was passed!!!
longford should have scored 4 or 5 anyway :)

Well there was a referee on SportsCall on RTE radio saying it was offside!
There was only one SPA defender in his own half, thus it was offside.

describe the incident for me.
Goalkeeper was in the other penalty box hence the confusion.
Shane Barrett was in opposing half - one defender between him and goal when it was played to him.
Blatant offsid eto me as goialkeeper misisng but easy one to miss and linesman normally forgets about the keeper.
I'm not aware of any rule stating that the defending team must have 2 players in their own half.
Acording to Richardson on eircom league weekley last night he seems to think there is. Didnt know this myself being honest, any refs who can clear this up ?Quote:

2. Well inside Pats half
3. Only one defender between him and goal
Definitely offside, but ref would have blown for full time from resulting free kick. Not a major issue.
Why was Adamson sao slow in getting back the two times he went up for the corners? Both times he was strolling back when Longford were breaking upfield.
Because he'd given up. He's not going to beat them to his goal, so all he could do was watch and hope. It worked once, twice if you count the second time as offside, as it seems to have been.Quote:

Anyone else think this has potential? Winning one-nil in the dying minutes, push everyone up front, leaving only one man back.... It would be impossible to score as it'd be offside everytime...
but what if the player runs from his own half?
he wouldn't be offside then.
Only if he hasn't crossed the half way line when the ball is played
and if he shoots from his own half?
That works too. Though it would be hard to beat the keeper from 60 yards if he's the one left back.
