We do plenty of media bashing here, so no harm in a little 'My Name Is Earl' type balancing of karma.
Saturday's Irish Times (which I've just finished reading at 7.05am on Sunday - yes I'm a slow reader) featured MORE eircom league coverage than Premiership. There was two very decent match reports on Rvs v Bohs and Waterford v Longford, a bit of chat about the Derry in Europe, and a preview of the remaining FAI Cup ties.

I want to know why they were so anti-domestic league for so long, hindering the development of it. IMO they have alot to answer for, they printed some story in the past that clearly were not 'reporting the news' .... they were poorly researched, fabricated lies which sought only to tarnish the name of the league/clubs/players. Bare-faced lying which only had contempt for the league and the unknowing reader aswell.

Maybe i am biased towards the Irish Times but Emmet malone is the football journalist in Ireland. I think he weekly column is fair on the eL as takes the good with the bad. Excellent article by him on the Staunton situation last week too.

There was one small article maximum in a couple of papers about Derry v Shels, well away from the heavy glossy huge EPL coverage and the All-Ireland coverage. some of the best articles on the EL have been written by emmett Malone..he is a decent journalist but i do take the point that he does not get the space he deserves for domestic soccer...when he writes on the EL it is well researched and informative...he must have a decent interest in it himself
This site is more therapeutic than any shrink. I was beginning to think I was the only one who thought Emmet Malone is a decent journalist. I would go so far as to say that he is the best sports journalist on this island, Keith duggan is the only one who comes close.
I've gotten p*ssed off with Tom Humphries and as for Gerry McDermott. Oh dear God. Do away with him!
