THE FAI are planning to explore the eligibility of teenage prospect Ryan Patrick Nolan who is off to try his luck in Italy after the youngster signed a deal with Inter Milan.
Nolan, who was brought up in Spain but has Irish parents, has until now been on the books of Spanish side Torre-Pacheco, but he has been tracked by bigger clubs and Inter, managed by Roberto Mancini (pictured), have lured him to Milan signing him on a three-year deal which was brokered by former Italy and Chelsea star Pierluigi Casiraghi. Nolan, 15, has never been capped, at any level, by the Republic but FAI scouts will this week follow up on the teenager and confirm his eligibility and his interest, if any, in playing for Ireland.
While Liam Brady and Robbie Keane obviously had spells in the first team at Inter, only a handful of Irish players have spent time in the academies of Italian clubs.
