marty, jason played well against very limited opposition- was marked by neil mckenna (i think he used to play for longford but now plays junior soccer).
we have a panel of about 22 first team players who will have to be whittled down to about 18 so i would not give up hope on longford getting him back.
i miss them nights in the flansiro in the early noughties when us sligo fans used to get our only sight of premier football.
hope ye revive them days soon.
Maybe coz I dont remember that Sligoman!! Oops.
He had more or less agreed to sign back but if things don't work out for him there I reckon we might have a full squad by the way things are going. I think we're on an upward slope again slowly but surely, things are under control at the moment. Yeah Neil Mckenna played for us for a while, he was fairly poor, got sent off v. Galway in the cup.
Bohs beat Athlone 1nil tonight...own goal.
We're away to Dundalk on Saturday 20th at 2.00, according to the Derry Journal.
There was over 900 people at it , bar was packed and the game was well sponsered , celtic put up by a local hotel and all costs kept to a real minimum . Well worth the effort as the game got people into utd pk who wouldnt normally go and lots of people came into the Drogs shop in town for tickets who wouldnt normally .All positive if you ask me .The only negative was Drogheda fans including season ticket holders who didnt bother there arse going for some reason .It was a fund raiser after all .
I f any club can clear a profit from friendlies with cross-channel kids or reserve teams, whats the problem.? We should all be happy enough that the Drogs were ableto lighten the pockets of those who wouldn`t normally set foot inside United Park
We are playing the Cork Oscar Traynor team in Cappoquin, next Wednesday (Feb 10th), with a
7.45 Kick - Off.
Dundalk Athlone finished nil nil yesterday, alot of trialists on show for us.
Finn Harps 3 - 1 Gweedore
Packie Mailey, Davitt Walsh and Johnny Minnock scoring the goals.
Harps play Letterkenny Rovers next on Saturday in the Aura Leisure Centre at 5pm.
Oh oh! Another club has fallen for the Celtic XI gimmick:
http://www.loi.ie/index.php/clubs/pr...ic-to-tallaght
"Celtic's current first team squad includes Robbie Keane and Pat McCourt"
Are they actually going to be playing though? That article's bordering on false advertising if not.
Rovers are being pretty careful about advertising it as a Celtic XI, although it is taking a bit of a liberty putting Robbie Keane on the poster without an assurance he will play. There's strong word that he'll at least be travelling over though, and unlike a lot of the other games played by Celtic XI's this one is a few days after one league fixture and four or five before the next so there's a decent possibility of a strong squad.
i wonder will things kick off against the Celtic fans like they did with the Shels fans over the weekend?
