Premier League(played Paddys Day)
Bohs 3 - 2 Villa
The focus returns to the premier league this weekend with the top two coming face to face in Tramore.
With Carrick Utd having been involved in cup action since January the home side have had a chance to steal a march on them. The seasiders are now three points clear but the champions have two games in hand.
It should be an interesting encounter.

when is this game on,thought there were no games this weekend with the ireland match and the johnny giles walk
Friday 7pm k.o.
Talk of Waterford wanting to change time now because it clashes with game at RSC but Junior League not in favour.
Shades of last season when they changed the date of the Ardagh Cup final to suit game at RSC despite having it fixed for the Friday night originally.
Outcome to this will be interesting, to say the least!!
How many Carrick and Tramore follower's would actually go to the RSC?? I suspect 10 maybe at most if they are cribbing over 100 euro you no senior football is in trouble!
Fixed for 7.15pm Friday evening should be a cracker
I suppose the Junior League has finish it main competition on time and with Sunday's games cancelled for the Johnny Giles Walk it had get the game played.
I heard recently that the Waterford Schoolboy league have blocked an application by Waterford United to enter schollboy teams from next season, they wanted to protect the schoolboy teams from losing their best players to Waterford United but doesn't this already happen with Villa and Bohs???
That doesn't make it right we have seen it from our club over the years there has being plenty of players who went to the city, with very little benefits. The schoolboy commitee in Carrick have to take alot of plaudits for the effort they are putting in and hopefully we will start taking "A" League off Villa etc soon and also see more young fella's come through to play in the junior teams
Tramore 2 -0 Carrick
Bohs 1 - 3 Waterford Crystal
Tramore 2 - 0 Carrick
Tramore thourghly desvered their victory on the night, they play a great brand of football, based on ex waterford united's Paul McCarthy and Stephen Grant in midfield, they pass the ball at pace and Grant makes superb runs beyound the centre forward which Carrick had no answer for, both goals were taken extremly well. Massive crowd turned out for this top of the table clash which left carrick licking their wounds they will have to regroup quickly with Ferrybank away next saturday and the following sunday Wembley in Ozier in MJC semi.
there seems to be a lot of negitive talk in regard to Carrick Utd. (ie too old , gone past it etc;) Probably not as good as previous years but still well there in Prem league , in semi,s in both Mun. senior and junior cups. Most clubs would love to have a season like it. losing players like Sconnie Walsh , Dyl Kavinagh, Mikey Coady ,Ian Cleary and Brian Barry would certainly have consequenses for any club . I think they have done exceptionally well
considering . Tramore played very well on Friday but they had to keep season alive and they are possibly on the brink of being a top club . But there is great spirit in Carrick and they will not give up crown too easy
It was Carrick's first league defeat in two years I think. They have also had to deal with changes in the squad this season .
But a team with their fantastic success record over the past ten years will always be judged on high standards. As Carrick Utd always base their squad on local players they like to promote from within and will not pack the team just for the sake of it.
Given the club philiosophy and as already stated any junior squad would find it hard to absorb the loss of the quality of the above mentioned players.
Ferrybank 1 2 Carrick United good comeback from carrick two goals from Alan Ryan sealed the points still not firing on all cylinders
Lads its called jealousy- its always the same knock the best teams !! Carrick still will win league I reckon and have been best team in munster not just Waterford consistently for the past ten yrs.To lose the above named players and other key players through injuries wud decimate most teams. As a member of another Waterford club I admire Carrick as a club for what they have won- they have put Waterford Junior league soccer on the map.
Agree. For a club who have always picked from within their own schoolboys set up their record over the past ten years or more has been phenomenal, coming from a small town.
But when you're at the top for so long , winning all the major competitions, there will always be those who envy that success. Nothing new in that.

I hear 4 Villa players sent off on Sat against Crystal . Anyone know what happened, is this a record for a Prem game
Linesman gives the the glass a free on the edge of the villa box in the 88th minute, from reports it was a great tackle. Villa keeper says something to ref gets sent off, glass take the free comes of a villa players head into the top corner 1 nil glass, Villa have 3 players, 1 of which was of the field injured sent off in the after mat of the goal. Glass win 1 nil. Villa missing 4 now for Tramore match the weekend.
Starry was the ref, Linesman is from portlaw club i cant think of his name,

Another one of Carricks games in hand after struggling to beat Hibs on sunday, they will have 3 players back from suspension and I expect the intensity and standard of play increase as they start the preperation for the Munster Junior Cup Final
Bohs 1 - Carrick 4 Keith Walsh, Adam McSharry Eoghan Burke and Michael Clarkson
Decent performance against a struggling team, bohs had 9 men behind the ball for long periods playing one up top on his own, Bohs struggled to get any possesion abeit unlucky not go 1 nil up after a wonder volley from Kennedy that hit the underside of the crossbar. Keith and Adam scored around the half hour mark to take the pressure off, Eoghan burke added the 3rd with 13 mins to go, late on 1b player Michael Clarkson on his 2nd apperance for the 1st team netted a well taken goal. Bohs got a consolation in injury time.
Carrick are now 1 point behind tramore and have a game in hand.
Yes, thought Bohs would pose more of a threat. Carrick were comfortable throughout and now look forward to St.Saviours on Sunday to regain the lead in the league.
Good to be involved in the business end of the season again, with the Munster Junior in Ozier on the following Sunday.
Interesting times , indeed.
Anyone know how Piltown got on today in IA game v Southend?
Piltown drew nil - nil in southend . Granagh won today , so 1a league goes to play off . Fair play to Southend for playing with right attitude . Remember last season when Bohs and Ferrybank "played " out nil-nil draw to ensure both stayed in premier, sending Southend down. Well done Southend
Tramore Carrick & Crystal all win ths weekend, Tramore beat villa 2-0 Joey Phelan with both goals, Carrick beat Saviors 3-0 Adam MacSharry Eoghan Burke Anthony O'Donnell with the goals and Crystal beat Johnville 4-2 getting 3 penalties in the process, Johnville were said to be a little upset with the ref decisions in this game. Carrick play Dungarvan Wednesday week in the next league game.
