Joe Mason has already scored twice for Plymouth after about 18 minutes on the road to Huddersfield (for whom Kilbane is playing), the second coming after they went down to 10 men.
Conor Hourihane will be in the squad to face Arsenal tomorrow...would be his senior debut if he plays.

Two names to keep an eye out for with possible Irish links.
There is a highly rated 18 year old Liverpool born striker/winger at Tranmere who is definitely going to move on to bigger things in the future. His name is Dale Jennings.

Steven Beattie in MLS draft.
There has been debate on here about his nationality, but anyway James Shea on the bench today for Arsenal. Also, on the subject of goalkeepers, Alex McCarthy of Reading has trained with, but never played for the England U21s. Could he come over to the dark side and join us! Anybody know anything about him?
Sean Morrison, a highly rated 20 year old centre half has just signed for Reading from Swindon.

In Scotland, Stephen Elliott scored twice tonight to beat Kilmarnock and two to Jon Walters in the FA Cup.
James Collins graabed two for Shrewsbury last night
Actually, the BBC report said he turned Scunny down.
Reading the Herald website, they'd an article on Danny Kelly who transfered from
non league Crumlin United to Oldham Athletic in the summer:
http://www.herald.ie/sport/soccer/ke...e-2504009.html
He's returning home with Shamrock Rovers favourite to sign him.
An interesting stat jumped out at me from the article though:
Which got me thinking who they are?Quote:
League of Ireland players are quite the in-thing in the English league now -- 33 ex-LOI players are on the books of English clubs this season
Anyway so I created this quick quiz.
http://www.sporcle.com/games/joedeni...playersengland
A few caveats.
- I'm fallible so may have got a few things wrong.
- The players don't neccessarily have to have played in LOI or played in the English League yet. Merely made a transfer from one to the other(eventually).
If you spot anything wrong with it, send me a PM or put it in a spoiler.
Lets see who can get the best time..........
(and Danny Kelly isn't in it because Crumlin aren't LOI)
From the bits I saw of MOTD, Fahey had a horror miss at Old Trafford, tired legs probably; Gibson & O'Shea looked tidy enough, Coleman had a bad miss but also nearly scored a belter, Best was unlucky not to score against Spurs and outmuscled a Spurs defender with ease on another occasion. By all accounts Duff, Dunne and Clark all had good games. I didn't see much of the Irish Wolves, they were easily beaten.
Went to the Wolves game . I would have to say the three Irish lads on display looked Wolves best players . Doyle had a quite game by his standards but was still the best Wolves had on the pitch. Hunt was busy and got in stuck in but with little end product. Ward had a good game was neat and tidy and put a few decent crosses in.
Hammil looked lively and managed to put more balls into the box in the little time he was on than the rest of the team put together. I think he will turn out to be a very good signing for them.
They are in bad need of two new central defenders they were all over the place ,Zubar is shocking not sure how he playing at that standard.
Brilliant to see Stephen O' Halloran play the whole game against top of the table QPR. He got booked in this game which Coventry lost, but he must be back to some degree of fitness to last the whole game. Hopefully in time, he can compete for the problematic left back position for us.
I was at Leicester V Milwall at the weekend and although no Irish started for the home side, Logan was on the bench, he is said to a good bet to end up at Charlton with ex City coach Chris Powell who took over at Charlton recently, Leicester are trying to sign a keeper and I dont see him as being in Svens plans in the long term, he has had chances at the club, but never really made the spot his own. Made a big game changing/costing error early in the Erikksons tenure also, which didnt help.
For Millwall, Dunne was captain and Forde was in goal, he conceded 4 and was definately at fault for the second, weak hands on a scuffed Yakubu shot across him. He kicked well though, and Leicester had a CB on his debut having an absolute horror story of a game and Forde twigged this early and kicked accurately down the kids throat all game long causing several problems.
On a side note, Kyle Naughton, on loan from Spurs and possibly signing permanently at Leicester had another superb 90 at right full, really good, and a pacey overlapper as well with a good sense of when to make the runs and when to stay, solid on it, doesnt give it away and the defensive side of his game is there too. Still free to represent us too if I'm right.

It's a bit quiet on the website at the moment and I thought I'd post this update on potential recruit Carl Magnay from Wikipedia. May not be true, who knows!
In March 2010 Magnay suffered a serious injury in a reserve team game against Charlton Athletic, damaging his anterior cruciate ligament, medial collateral ligament and cracking his kneecap;[8] he has yet to return to fitness.
Carl has reportedly dislocated his knee on the 05/01/2011 which could see him out for at least another 10 months after a freak accident at home late that night when he reportedly tripped over the family dog Hugo.
Dave Mooney scored for Colchester tonight, then got himself booked for leaving the field when celebrating!

Irish Abroad statistics for January 2011: http://irish-abroad.appspot.com/MonthlyStats?month=1
Reading's Ian Harte and Shane Long were joined by Damien Duff and Anthony Stokes at the top of the wins table. Each player was on the winning side 4 times
Dundee's Sean Dillon drew the most games, finishing 5 games level
Teammates Joe Murphy and Eddie Nolan, Mark Kennedy and David Norris, Stephen Ward and Stephen Hunt, as well as James O'Connor and Liam Lawrence all lost four times
As well as this James O'Connor, Stephen Hunt and David Norris joined Darren Randolph, Damien Duff and Sean Dillon at the top of the most starts table. Each player started 7 times in January
Of these Randolph, O'Connor, Dillon and Norris completed every game
Stephen Hunt went on to be substituted 4 times, along with Leon Best as the most substituted player
Stoke's Glenn Whelan was the most introduced substitute player
Shay Given makes his monthly appearance at the top of the most unused substitute player table
Anthony Stokes comfortably tops the goalscoring charts in January, scoring 7 times in just 6 games, with Celtic winning all but one of the games in which he scored. Reading striker Shane Long scored 5 goals, and Reading went on to win every game.
I went to Peterborough V Sheffield Wednesday tonight, Morrisson only on the bench, with Mellor/Madine preferred to him. James O'Connor also started on the bench but came on soon after Darren Potter had been shown a straight red after hauling a player down when he was the last man. Being honest, It was Potter's only act of note in the portion of the game he played, very subdued IMO, and not on the ball more than half a dozen times, ten max. He didnt do a lot wrong, just wasnt really on the pace of it.
O'Connor was so eager to get on he ran on before the fourth official had held up the numbers board, so he had to trek back, and was booked before being allowed on the field again, surreal stuff, one Irish player red carded, going down the tunnel having hardly broken sweat and the other yellow carded in his attempts to get on.
O'Connor got stuck in at least, got on the ball and challenged for it, I dont recall Potter making one challenge all game, but the red card turned it, it was 3-2 Wednesday when he was sent off, with maybe 20 to play, and they ended up losing 5-3.
Reading with Long, Tabb, Hunt, and Harte against QPR with Kenny and Rowlands (probably only as a sub) tonight on TV, should be a good one.
Patrick Kohlmann played for Union Berlin away in the Berlin derby (vs Hertha) in front of over 74,000.
Had a decent game, got booked for a necessary but slightly late challenge on Raffael, Hertha's Brazilian winger. Won a few free kicks with his forward runs.
Union won 2-1 inflicting Hertha's second home defeat of the season - Hertha should still be on course to win the 2er Bundesliga, Union will prob finish midtable.
James Shea signs a new contract with Arsenal

Gary Dicker attracting interest from Championship

I see an Irish flag by James Shea's name on Wikipedia...has he played for us at underage level?
John Rooney yesterday played the second half of NY Red Bulls' first preseason game against Atlante in Mexico. Finished 0-0, NY won 4-3 on penalty kicks. Rooney missed his pk.
I thought it might be worth mentioning that Mark Bunn at Blackburn who has declared at interest in playing for us has recently signed a new contract. When he was on loan at Sheff. Utd a while ago he showed a lot of potential.
Shane Long scored again at the weekend, Stephen Elliott and Adam Rooney scored two each while Rooney's team mate Aaron Doran scored too as Inverness drew with St. Mirren. Looking at team lists, can anyone tell me what is the story with Keith Treacy? Preston are a mess and he continues to sit on the bench , and in fact this weekend he was not even named among the subs.
He pulled out injured from the Ireland squad, so I'll assume it's the same thing that's keeping him out this weekend.
I posted this in the Connor Clifford thread, but will put it here too, delete if this is a no no.
By a happy coincidence I was at Notts County V Exeter today, and saw Connor come off the bench on the hour mark, he looked smaller than the other midfielders on both sides, but looked immediately to get on it and pass, and did so well on the first few occasions, he also made two challenges soon after coming on, one winning the ball back, the other not, but not fouling either, he gave it away cheaply once while looking to spread the play, not enough pace on the ball on a sticky Rugby scarred surface and the opposing fullback intercepted it. On the other hand he played one really nice disguised angled ball from about 40 yards out to the edge of his opponents penalty area, which did cause problems and needed defending, it was a little flash of vision.
He lost all 3 arial duels I saw him go for though, but made one very nice late run arriving for a pullback which didnt come from Lee Hughes, who had it made clear to him that he should have passed, this was noticable in his game, he was talking to those round him a lot, good to see.
We will see if he starts the next game, his side went two down soon after he joined the action and had been poor all day.
John O'Flynn played for Exeter and put in a shift, in the chanells mostly without any real clear sights of goal, except one, which was parried and led to a goal for his side.
LEE-J LYNCH. Just thought i would mention a young lad that played with us before. Lee-J Lynch. Scored 2 on his international debut u17, signed with west brom but spent most of his last year their injured. He is now signed with Glenn Hoddle in Spain and is on loan to jerez industrial cf. He was always a winger, but Hoddle has converted him to centre mid, his style is propably more suited to the continent than england. Spoke with him when he was back a few weeks ago, seems like Hoddle has had alot of offers for him from the spanish championship and one from italy, but he seems to be stalling on any deals as he thinks he could get better, which i presume means more money from bigger clubs.

I guess he's Rio and Anton Ferdinand's cousin though I guess the family is huge and he has never seen or spoken to either.
