Ignoring the fact that the man received the same schooling in equality issues that Ron Atkinson did, I suspect he'd want way too much money for us.

Though I'm sure there would be a manager somewhere in England who'd fancy the challenge of making something of an EL club (like Allardyce in his early days with limerick).

Our big problem is that the only real positives we have to offer a manager are
a first round seeding in the Champions League, a decent board, and a passionate fanbase. The downsides are that the supposedly best Manager in Ireland lasted only 6 months with us, we have a wreck of a stadium with no resolution in-sight, and are 11 points off the top of the league after only 11 games. In balance, not the most tempting set-up for an ambitious manager....

Funny that, on your forum, Pete Mahon is being mentioned on the "Who would you like as manager" thread. ;)

I assume you'll appoint someone now who was probably available five months ago. So it was much a knee jerk reaction for Bohs to sack Kenny as for youz to appoint Fenlon. It's not as if the last few months have been a surprise.

In fairness, Fenlon was the safe option. He had a proven track record (cheque book or otherwise).

The fact we were bookies favourites for the title reflected expectations on him.

Maybe they were a bit unrealistic, but its very easy to pick holes in the decision with 20/20 hindsight.

Agreed. But there were many who were questioning his ability before he jonied Derry. There's a couple of threads here, for example; will dig one up if I can be bothered.

There were plenty questioning Stephen Kenny's ability too!

If say you put Fenlon up against Doolin (the king of chequebook management), I'd still take Fenlon anyday.

That's like taking a root up the hole over losing an arm though.

Well a root up the hole may bring some initial pain but the experience will make you stronger in the long run. Losing an arm is just inconvenient full stop.

I suppose in hindsight the bitterness between Derry and Shels last season was very much down to Nutsy so it might not have been the best idea to appoint him straight away.
