But Doyle, who has four months left on his Wolves deal, reappeared in the Wolves squad on Saturday and came off the bench in a 5-0 rout of Rotherham United, and boss Kenny Jackett says he could now decide to use a player who had recently been an outcast.
"The move is still on and that might be for Kevin's future, it's not for the immediate [future] in that he's not going today or tomorrow," said Jackett after his recall for Doyle.
"In the meantime if I think he can do a job for the club I will use him and he is happy to be back involved and he will be happy to be back playing. And during this spell of games he will have more minutes, he will be playing for us.
"If in the long-term everyone decides that the right thing is for him to go, then we understand that but in the mean time he is an asset for the club and, most importantly, he will complement the other young forwards that we have.
"Kevin is a natural complement to the other forwards that we have, in the fact that he has experience and, I feel, can make the ball stick and win a header," added Jackett.
Doyle has not started a league game for Wolves in 13 months.
