The dreaded vote of confidence.
I can't see everything being fine for too much longer if they really do have a wage bill approaching €140k a month. Don't interpret that as wishing ill on Cork now Cork fans just genuinely don't see it adding up.
I'm certainly not, but your childish comment re petrol and FAI offices was a really stupid statement to make.
As a fan of irish football for over 30 years* I realy hope Cork can sort things out, would be a real shame to lose a club of their size, support and excellent ground. But they cant be alowed to just brush over the o/s debts and massive reported tax bill. Most other clubs with sizeable wages have a standing order scheme in place where income tax is collected each month, I cant specifically name any, but I know this is how we pay our taxes, and it means you are up to date. Also I think a lot of us are just sick and tired at the amount of clubs who are still living well beyond their means, and still doing this 6 months into a recession, so maybe not dancing on graves, but do you honestly expect everyone to feel all of your pain ?
* I remember a sheet collection going around oriel pk in the early 80`s for one of the previous Cork entities, possibly Cork Utd, I thjink I gave in my pocket money of 50p, so maybe this is something you could try on Friday night ?
The Cork forum and I think one of the papers mentions a wage bill of 140k per month.
If that's even remotely near the truth then I suspect CCFC is a dead club walking.
Edit: the paper was the Echo.

"Okay folks, show's over. Nothing to see here, show's... Oh my god! A horrible plane crash! Hey everybody, get a load of this flaming wreckage! Come on, crowd around, crowd around!"

There's nothing to worry about here.
What, spending huge amounts on wages can lead to financial difficulties?
It's like these guys visited the Cork boardroom.

Well were not bitter for one reason, we deserved to get the treatment we did. But we always knew city's debt at the time was over 1 mill, reportedly 1.3, ours was 400-500k, we owed the taxman 150k they owed 500k. Make sense to ye the difference in treatment?? Answers on a postcard please.
yet, exactly, coughlans ****ed well known round cobh. Yere home if were to look at your address ha
Exactly UCD(Pete Mahon) must be going mad!! God love him!!

400k tax bill.
Hmmm.
If the Drogs fans can raise that then I have no doubt that the Cork fans could.
What kind of timeframe are we looking at here? The club would almost certainly be handed over to FORAS if such a campaign is succesful?
The situation is not comparable to the Drogheda situation.
Drogs had to pay off around 300k in total.
IF the above figure is correct not only would that be owed but also current contracts would have to be honored, any other existing bills would ahve to be paid etc etc.
Its far from as 'simple' as just raising 400k
The day is darkest before the dawn, but the dawn is coming.
Clubs like Cork and Bohs have to be made suffer in order for them to get their act together and run themselves like something that resembles a business.
Would anyone in Cork Believe a word he says though.
Ah, but what if he said: 'This statement is a lie'. What would they believe then?
Thread title changed as it is alarmist in the absence of any proven facts.
Only had a chance to skip through the 12 pages but seems the numbers quoted are still pure speculation. Maybe Foras EGM will see some facts emerge but not sure how any one can provide definitive proof anbout taxes.
If theres one good thing to come from this thread it has left the Corkies know in no uncertain terms what a percentage of people round the country thought & think of them. At least they will have reference points in case they are ever unsure. Just planting seeds folks, planting seeds....................
i would hope most of the figure here are rourmour, cause even if there half true cork have a massive problem building in there club,
so was all this Cork City going bust hoop-la a load of sh1te then?
This got quiet fairly quick. Anyone know the score officialy?
400,000 - 0 apparently.
