He was fantastic on the left-wing last season for Shels - way above the level of any other Shelbourne player and I include Jason Byrne in that, and in fact, way above any other player I saw in the league last year. Last season was by far his best season, he just keeps getting better and better and I have no doubt he will a step up from Livingston before his contract it up. I just hope we have put in a sell on clause.
Yeah but I would also say I reckon his absolute best position would be played like Kaka for Milan, behind the front two. He would run riot in a position like that and it's sort of where he played in Europe where he excelled so much.
I was telling a friend about the debate going on about Hoolahan leaving a "better team" etc and how he was classed as a very good player because it was in the papers here about it when he was signing.
Anyway, he's a Rangers season ticket holder and he came back with very good reports about Wes on Saturday. He said he looked very good and had some lovely touches.
Whatever the rights and wrongs of the move, I suppose that's justification in some people's eyes. Performing (and performing well) in an arena like that will make it seem like the right decision for him no doubt.
How ? Performing well could instead be interpreted as proof that he's undersold himself. Whats the point of taking a supposed 'step-up' if it doesnt stretch or challenge you ? Wes could've had operated within the same comfort zone at Shels, but got European football to-boot as well (rather than a relegation struggle...).Quote:

It is very rare now an Irish teams (not called Longford anyway) european campaign will be two matches. Between Cork and Shels over the last two seasons alone they have had 24 european matches.

In the Record today after last nights League Cup semi final "the most intelligent player on the park". To be fair Dunfermline are muck too though.
That was one of the worst games I've seen in ages. Both teams were awful.

I doubt very much he'll be there when they come back for pre-season in the First Division. The reports are almost always positive so I'd expect him to get a move to a decent side. In that way I suppose his move might be considered worthwhile??
