Would you not say Dan Murray, Danny Murphy, Ronan Finn, Chris Turner, Ken Oman, Richard Brush, Gary McCabe, Pat Sullivan, Dessie Baker, Pat Flynn, Thomas Stewart etc. were all established LOI players when MO'N signed them? (Not sure if he actually did sign last three though)Quote:

MON's stated every pre-season that the type of player he's looking for are young, hungry players (and when you look at how the older ones he's signed have done you'd have to agree). He didn't sign Baker or Flynn, both were already here. Finn, Turner, Stewart were all young (though Stewart was a panic buy when Twigg & Baker both got injured at the start of the year) and are much closer to the type of player MON's targeted more often. I'd take all five of our central midfielders over Dempsey to be honest, its our strongest position in terms of numbers (and probably quality too), unless one of them leaves in the window which case Dempsey would be a good pick-up. Haven't heard any murmurs about anyone leaving though.
But even at a young age, the players I've mentioned were still all established as good Premier Division LOI players.
Yeah maybe established wasn't the right word, but the strategy seems to have been players like Sheppard, McCabe, Kilduff, Chambers, McCormack who seem to be on the up as opposed to veterans like Dempsey which we've signed comparatively few of since MON came in.
And tonight we announced the signing of Karl Moore. Haven't been too impressed with him any time I've seen him, but as I mentioned before, he fits the profile of players MON looks to bring to the club.
Moore started really well for us, and was our best player in the first 3 or four weeks of the seaso. But then whether it as a lack of confidence or a realisaiton of the sh!te around him, he wwnt to absolute pot, and only came close to reaching his early season form in the last few games for us before he left. Can't see him getting a start, but should provide decent back-up is MO'N can restore his confidence

Yeah I believe a 250,000 offer from Peterbrough was rejected. Apparently, Sunderlands offer was 350,000 quid - plus add ons.

And that has worked out fantastically well for us. Fozzie cleared the deal with the board, Hughton flew in, met the lads after training thursday only for Fozzie to be told that Gerry Matthews was refusing to ok the deal so Fozzie had to drive him back to the airport to head back across the water! Amateur hour. Fozzie said that the deal would have still kept him under the budget with some room to spare for possibly one more but it seems the budgets been reduced after both Fozzie and the fans being told it would stay the same.Quote:

Now Gerry Matthews will always be held in the highest regard for what he's done for the club since he took over but the few times he's got involved in the football side of things has ended in a farce.

Foster and the rest of us were told that the budget would remain the same and the money that Hector was on would be available still. No-one has any problem at all with financial prudence in this day and age, instead of waiting til the last minute until the lad arrived in the country and up in Dundalk if they were pulling the deal and reducing the budget they should have at least given the lad a phone call before he hopped on a plane and came over instead of a wasted trip that makes us out to be a pack of amateurs. According to Colm Crosson the deal was dependant on getting 30k owed off Setanta that still has yet to be paid. To put it simply the lad should have been notified and told the deal is dead before coming across, he even met the lads before the Drogheda game and everything.
As I said none of us have any problem with the club being run right and we fully support that, we still remember well the state the club was in before GM took over but they do themselves no favours at times; this, Dave Rogers, Lovely Lisa, Seanie Boy, the treatment of Giller when he was let go over the past few years as a few examples.
I hope its the girl on the Zoosk ad myself
