What a shameful decision by the F.A.I to replay the St.Michaels/Pike Rovers game. St.Michaels lodged an objection as to legality of the Pike Rovers team. The objection was found to be in order and correct. By rule St.Michaels should play Clonmel Town in the semi-final and Pike Rovers eliminated. Not according to the F.A.I. The team which did everything above board and abided by the rules of the competition must play again the team which did not abide by the rules of the competition and was illegal. And what must Clonmel Town make of this. Think back to the Munster Junior Cup a few seasons ago. Pike Rovers objected to Clonmel Town. Town were deemed to have played an illegal player in contravention of the rules of that time and were eliminated. No offer of a replay. St.Michaels and Clonmel Town must be very disappointed at the F.A.I. decision. Saints, who have done no wrong, can either replay as instructed or make an expensive appeal to F.A.I. Senior Council. In the meantime Clonmel Town must wait helplessly for the outcome, hardly the correct motivation. The
