I'd say there has to be a massive bonus for him - a few million would be my guess - if he keeps them up. Why else would he turn down a massive salary from Wigan to go to the shambles of a side that is Derby??

It's a no lose situation. Everyone has Derby relegated and if he keeps them up, he is the miracle man, but if they go down, no one is surprised. The challenge is then to get them back up. If he doesn't and they struggle, he gets the sack with another nice pay off. As I say (sounding like Dave O'Leary), he can't lose financially.
Jewell needs 60 million to keep Derby up! Why won't somebody give O'Leary a job? That way we'll never have to approach him.
He's mates with Adam Pearson, the chairman. He was trying to buy Leeds during the summer and had Jewell lined uop to manage there had he been sucessful, it was always on that he'd go to Derby.
Way more money I'd imagine. Owls Fan's assessment is spot on.
Didn't make sense at the time .. sort of does now .. I think he must have got wind of US owners and a big budget for buying new players.

Said at the time, he's mates with Adam Pearson and would have been well awar eof what might be happening Derby, Pearson's an astute businessman, he had this plan in place for Leeds only Ken Bates and KPMG had that administration sown up so he's just implemented it at Derby instead....
Beaten at home 1-4 by Preston North End (and unable to beat lowly Sheffield Wednesday in two attempts in 90 minutes). This is the man Mutt and Jeff on RTE were advocating should take the Irish job:rolleyes:.
If ye think that appointing Trappatoni was a mistake following his side's 7-0 hammering at the weekend, the imagine if we had appointed Paul Jewell??
Pictures of him in the NOTW on Sunday from a video tape he made a woman other than his wife. How embarassing would that be for the FAI??
Plus all this NOTW sh*te was from SIX YEARS AGO!!......who cares
his wife?!
