Correct on all counts. Though if Pellegrini gets the road it is likely that CL qualification won't be a given. That sort of position won't be conducive to a rookie manager giving a rookie player a shot... Or will it?
Big future for the kid either way, hopefully. Whether that kicks off this season or not. The reference to him being a hothead is interesting as it's reflected somewhat in that mini-documentary that City put together about him- but there's a positive angle to it in that he's a hothead because he's so passionate about his football. That's a more assuring way to look at it, especially given that he's a young player with all to prove at senior level.
Every good side needs a hot-head or two. Manchester City are probably lacking a bit in that department!

It's probably too late for Byrne to break in for those games, even if he does start playing for Cambuur (although I'm sure Dunphy will be screaming for his inclusion, should he complete a couple of passes against "THE GREAT AJAX AMSTERDAM"). However, should we turn things around and actually make it to Euro 2016 and if Byrne really emerges as a serious player in the Eredivisie, then certainly there is the potential opportunity for him to be blooded into the team during pre-tournament friendlies and then included in the finals squad. You may be right but there is reason to believe this will be different than the Barry Maguire situation - mid-level Eredivisie teams was the pinnacle (so far anyway) of Maguire's career before dropping to the Eerste Divisie and that's not quite high enough a level to be an Irish International. Byrne's stint in the Eredivisie next season is clearly being planned as a stepping stone to the Man City first team, particularly when viewed in combination with the three-year contract he just signed. Really good attitude by this young lad and he seems genuinely excited about the move to Cambuur. At the age of 19 it would be easy for him to turn his nose up at a move which will bring cultural and logistical barriers e.g. the language, age profile of the players compared to himself, further distance from home etc. But Byrne seems intent on embracing it.Quote:

Sure, I understand, we shouldn't get overexcited, but even with the loanees you mention, their career paths are still going fairly well, even if they didn't quite make it at Man City: Guidetti, admittedly has been a bit of a loan ranger, with some mixed results (albeit affected by injury and illness) - however his season at Celtic was quite productive (more appearances and goals than Anthony Stokes) and he should be picked up by someone, now that he has been released (he also picked up a couple of caps for Sweden); Denayer was PFA Scotland young Player of The Year, broke into the Belgian team during his loan spell and has been quoted as saying that he wants to remain at Celtic; Rusnak, who also went to Cambuur, spent half a season there before, arguably, moving up a grade on a permanent basis to Groningen and scoring the goals that won them their first Dutch Cup. So even if Byrne emulates these players, he could still be considered for the World Cup 2018 squad. Plus, having signed a three-year contract, he won't be released into the wilderness by City at the end of the loan spell (although there is always the possibility that he may spend the following season in the reserves or back with the U-21s).
