anybody know when the fixtures are out????????
prem fixtures at least should be out in next few week
another thing i must get off my chest b4 the new season is the oscars situation. i hope that its run correctly this year and people are picked on merit. eg. barry ryan got player of the year and wasnt selected, doesnt make sense. maybe its because of the influence of chalky in the selection process. it should be made a level playing field so that players will be encouraged and feel proud to represent the league, it shouldnt be town/saints old friends fc
Two sides to the whole Oscar situation..firstly,Chalkies influence is detremental to it being taken seriously by a lot of players. Secondly, linking in with the first point, a lot of players dont want to be selected for the team because its more time and effort than its worth. All in all, the Oscar team isnt seen as something to aspire to for any player in the league i think.....this is as a result of the above reasons and much more!!
i dont think its a fan club by any means, its a guy being judged on a perceived opinion of his character and not based on football,he has been one of the most prolific goalscorers in tsdl over 10 years,i never said it was 12,it was a dozen or more and i know he scored v kildare and athlone but i reckon thats about it but he did operate in midfield mostly and how many tsdl players have played double figure LOI games? seems to be an agenda with maxwell and ron if you read the posts whereas town fan and few more will question his character but never his ability and then myself or tipp top or den perry who will defend a good player is immediately accused of being barry ryan or in love with him,its a football forum not a personality contest and anyone who knows the guy will tell you how popular he is in his own dressing room, apologies for the rant:)
Town havnt signed anyone as far as i know and ive heard young evan mcguire who broke into the team at the end of last season is going to Waterford Bohs..Celtic meanwhile have signed Simon Scully and Mark Power from Town two good young players ,Power was at Aston Villa for a time a couple of years ago
i see saints beat fairview in a friendly at the weekend, they must really fancy their chances this season against a weakened town
Can we move on from the whole Barry ryan thing please? As Hooper said it is a football forum and i personally think this particular issue has been discussed enough. Good points have been made on both sides of the arguement, but at the end of the day it is getting a bit worn out now. Lets keep personal opinions on a player out of it and stick to the football issues please!
The Saints result against Fairview was pretty impressive alright but i would question whether Fairview fielded a team that will be similar to a team they will field in the latter stages of the season...just a thought!
Any updates on fixtures yet?? Whatever the opening fixtures are, you can be sure of one thing,,Saints will have an easy one or two games to open their campaign with as is the case most seasons due to the Chalkie factor. This isnt meant as an offence at all,,but it is transparent enough that they have had easier opposition in their opening games in the last few seasons as opposed to Town for example. Interesting to see the opening few fixtures this season!!
excellent point freddy....lets talk football, isnt about time the oscar traynor situation was sorted out, surely if all the clubs agree no player should be involved in selection then we can all move on
freddy i dont understand your point, saying that we get easy games starting off,it is a stupid and pointless argument and your only tryin to make something outa nothing.this vendetta against saints is obvious coming from a clonmel town supporter but be realistic for gods sake.ye've won the league 6 years in a row,and i take my hat off to ye,but stop complaining about something that is nothing.easy games startin off.next thing you'll say we pick the refs or somethin..if anyone is doin it ye are.
in fairness if saints allegedly get easier games starting off ten they would have the hardest run in at the most nerve wracking time of the season,so there is no unfair advantages, the best team always wins the league
I take back what i said..my apologies to Doc and Hooper..you are right, it doesnt really matter what the fixtures are,,as you said, the best team always wins the league anyway!!:p
and nobody is debating the fact town are the best side, their record is unquestionable, you can be lucky in cup competitions but the league table never lies and last yrs table shows town are the best but saints and villa are gettin much closer
Agreed! I think last season was much tighter than previous years and i believe it will be even closer this year. Pretty much every team is capable of taking points off every other team...should be very interesting.
i know we have moved on from this point but i had to laugh at the ridiculous nature of this comment...its a junior website so whats LOI got to do with it.....i was at the clonmel celtic game where villa had to win to force a last game decider with town....they won 3-2 and barry scored all 3, he also scored in the decider where they beat town 3-2 so this craic where he only scores against poor sides is hilarious, its a junior website so lets focus on that, has mcgrath and coady left town? i think town should sign barry and i know he would love to play there again whether or not he would admit it and he would be a perfect replacement for moroney, too much politics gets in the way
Its got everything to do with it. Tipp Topp rated Barry Ryan as Peake Villa's best player - yet a number of his teamates performed well at a higher level(LOI) and he didn't.Therefore to refer to the LOI is totally relevant-just because its a junior forum does not mean LOI should not be mentioned. However, because it does not show Mr Ryan in a favourable light you are not happy with it. Of course if he had score tons of goals there you would be touting it.So perhaps you should laugh at the "ridiculous nature of your own comment.
In addition, there were 4 matches between Peake and Town. Now, considering Town, Peake and Saints were the top three,I'd be interested to know how many goals he scored between those 4 against Town and the two against Saints....
This has been done to death lads, can we move on?
Girl's Girls can we not move on from this topic of Barry. Ron asked a question on who would be in peoples top 5 players I choose barry on what he achieved in the TSDL last season and in years gone bye. Unfortunately for some this has not gone down well with a small few of you who seem to have a personal grudge with the chap. The top 5 was to be picked on playing in the TSDL and not taking other leagues that players have palayed in into account.Their is a seperate Forum for LOI players past and present so if you want to talk about Barry and LOI please go their and lets leave this forum to the Tsdl.
Does anyone know when the fixtures will be out for the season.?A good start is going to be very important to the teams that are looking to win the league this year.
it will be interesting if saints or peake get off to a flyer....with town having new management maybe it will take them time to settle and they have never really had to play catch up
also whats going on in cahir...lots of new players and new management?
What on earth are all those suspended for? I know none of them got sent off in the play off last year. Or is it this stupid points accumilation system. Villa could strugle so at the start if this is true. You didnt mention Paul Breen in your list Ron I def taught he was going to have a couple of games ban after his sending off in the complex at the end of last season ??
breen served bothe those 2 game suspensions at the end of last season so has clean slate coming into new season,if villa start poorly with those absentees then i think they will be in trouble, its vital to get momentum early doors
I agree, momentum early in the season is vital. I think that the situation with Town and the new management etc could go two ways. Either it will take them a few games to get going or else the usual buzz that a new manager brings will drive them on from the start. Obvious enough point to make I suppose.. I just hope that it's the latter scenario that occurs rather than the former! Saw the fixtures earlier too.. Interesting one for saints against Celtic, will be anxious to see who comes out with the points in that game!
So how does everyone feel the first round of games will go... fixtures out already
Any predictions
CahirPark v Peake Villa
Old Bridge v Rock Rovers
St. Michael's FC v Clonmel Celtic
Two Mile Borris v Clonmel Town
Cashel Town sitting out the first weekends games
Any results from pre-season games, or how important do people think pre-season results are
Good result for Cashel Town last night in Tramore, coming from 2-1 down to win 4-2. Not bad away from home
to be honest no matter what way the fixtures went it was going to be tough.which is a brilliant sign of the high standard of the league.we got celtic.tough enough game, but from the way training is goin and one or 2 new players im pretty confident.but celtic will be tough.and had a good end to the season last year.
did cashel town play tramore last night.and they won.very good result.they must be very strong to beat tramore who are a top side.i wonder were tramore missing anyone?were cashel missing anybody?who scored for them?
The training in cooke park is SUN 6pm, MON 10am & MON 4pm but you must have a FAI pass to get in. Batch's of these passes have been given out to all south Tipp Schoolboy clubs and as far as I know most TSDL teams have been offered them. Hope this helps.
Watched st micheals 2day in athlone St peters Beat them 3 1.i think both sides were missing a couple.a good game of ball and run out for both sides..Best of luck to Them for season A good bunch of lads..
sshh are you mad? dont you know your not allowed criticise or even say that players name around here anymore, people seem to get very defensive as you have seen already:eek:
on a more important note i was in cooke park this morning and must congratulate st michaels on their excellent organisation. pitch looked fantastic and everyone was very helpful. must say fair play to most of the irish players too for takin time out for the kids, brought the nephew along and he was delighted, great PR all round for the league, well done.
