In my opinion, there is absolutely no justification whatsoever for sticking a bottle into someones neck, and leaving them for dead.

Those responsible for such attacks need to be hounded, arrested, charged and sentenced.

Sectarian? Was the attack because of the guy's perceived religious beliefs (I doubt many of the attackers were frequent church goers), or because of his perceived political beliefs/national identity?

As for being sectarian, I would suggest you look the word up as 'sectarianism' does not only pertain to religious differences.

BTW, the time of entry on the CCTV at the other bar puts it at 2.30pm. I don't believe they were all, if any, at the Oval but if any were they didn't need to be Doctor Who.

It's not Linfield FC's fault. However, more could still be done by the club (I'm aware of all the efforts currently being undertaken) to stamp out sectarianism. I'd say the same for Cliftonville and Shamrock Rovers as well to be honest. I dread the day Rovers and Linfield meet in the Setanta Cup.

I love these Derry 'angels' :rolleyes:

Other than play the games behind closed doors, I think both Cliftonville and Linfield have done more than could be reasonably expected to deal with this issue.

As much as the Brandywell is not a great place for a stadium and Linfield fans,at times, have been quite justified in their complaints due to inadequate policing outside the ground.

I seen crowds getting tooled up with the odd one with DCFC scarfs round their bake. That is my own eyes, unless of course you can account for every last person in Brandywell?

Now it's bad enough for your own team that rag newspapers print crap and attempt to link Linfield to the trouble by saying they wore Linfield gear, but for you to do the same to another team is just sad.

And funny at the time of the incident all sides were agreed that Derry City's fans were not involved.

Have to agree with this. As much as I might regularly disagree with Derry fans on things, their supporters are genuine, support their team and in my opinion were certainly not involved in attacks on Linfield supporters.
