Some interesting opening day fixtures. Top of the bill definitely up in O Neill park.
Bit different this year with straight into the league and not easing into it with the mossie.
Good luck to jonesey and his young assistant quinny at kinsale :)

To put things into perspective we have won 3 league titles on the trot.We have added maybe one or 2 players a season to our squad so's not to upset it.If it aint broke an all that.In individual one off cup matchs we have dissapointed on a local level an that hangs over our head to remind us an to be honest it keeps us grounded too.We have put ourselves an our players in the shop window so to speak so I'm not surprised one bit that other clubs have come a knockin for our players. We do not have the facilities that the bigger clubs have though we are trying an will have shortly so I can understand players wanting to try other things.
We hav'nt lost an entire squad, just a few players. Our squad is strong enough to take those loss'es an still win through.Yes they are good players but we have a squad of very good players an everyone knows that so I'm not packin me bags just yet for the Prem A.
We finished last season with 22 players all happy, this season we have a few back who missed all last season an we have lost a few.Fair swap,it would be a bit rich for me to start winge'in because of our position, its common knowledge. If your askin me do I honestly think we can win the Premier again,me personally I dont see why not with the players we have.I think Bog just about summed it up bang on with his comments.
Littleman,
By the fixtures I seen Grattan B's are in the 3rd division and they're in 3A that will lead to them clocking up a fair few miles on the away trips...
Must ask Billy to post the final make up of the 3rd divisions...
Lidl are sellin the sat navs dead cheap,I'll have to ask the treasurer for a few bob for one.:D
i had to drop down to the second team this year but by god we have a strong team this year, the league is a joke alright the distance we have to travel is unreal, an extra 20-25 mins than the cork teams, rathcoole (i think) we had a pre season match down there some journey like, banteer too is a savage journey.
We have the gratts sunday morning what you think littleman.
has john cotter joined grattan from avoldale?
to be honest bella if this weather dont cop on I cant see any games goin ahead an the B game by the way is Sunday at 2 so you can have a lie in.:p.you could be lookin towards either Blarney or Mayfield if you were that desperate to get a game played over the weekend. We played up in Garryduff last week an that would be one of the best pitchs in Cork an that by the time the game finished it was cuttin up because it belted down 5 mins before the ref blew it up.This weather is goin to play havoc with the early season fixtures:(
Do you play with the juniors littleman??
facilities aside, will aul teams ever be able to compete with msl teams in terms of quality? I saw the tramore (or Corinthians, I can’t remember) grattan game in garryduff, and although ye won littleman, you could see that tramore never got out of second gear
League is a joke alright the distance we have to travel is unreal, an extra 20-25 mins than the cork teams, rathcoole (i think) we had a pre season match down there some journey like, banteer too is a savage journey." (quote Bella)
Imagine how we feel in Mitchelstown Bella? The majority of our games are 30 miles away but when we have to go to places like Rylane and Coachford its usually 45 -50 miles away.
Played Clonmel B's last Friday night.A great game of football and some fine individual performances.Won 4-2.Nice start to season against neighbours Glanworth on Sunday.
A team have a tricky start,Glenthorn away and Grattan at home.
In all fairness to the league previously things were organized about as fairly as was possible with Div 1-3 in 3 sections, West (ish) North (ish) and East (ish). There is nothing anyone can do for the premier teams because if you qualify for premier division it is a bit of a free for all distance wise.
But this year (more than last it seems) with only 2 3rd divisions the spread of teams is brutal. It is difficult to see how they could improve it as there doesn't seem to be many east or north-east teams while there seems to be loads of west, north-west and city-west sides...
There were only two third Divisions as well last year and we De Courcey Albion must have gotten the short straw as we were put in 3A. We would have had players as far south as the Old Head traveling to the likes of Kanturk, Banteer, Buttervant, etc.
Trying to get players on the road before 9 especially at this level isn't easy and people would quickly start to loose interest.
Thankfully we saw the season out and are back in League 3 this season and hopefully things will improve on the pitch.
Saw that alright, know a guy from Ard-na-Laoi and they have been asking to move to Div 3 with about 5 years. Definitely Div 3 this year is very good from a travel sense, the trip to Eli Lilly to play you de courcey would be the longest anyone would have to face, and that's 20-25 minutes from the city.
The new Kinsale pitch looks like it will be lovely surface - scope for fine big pitch too. Fair play - grand setup ye have there.

Any one use TEAMER.NET as posted on Billy's Blog?
Sorry about that olachico & parkboy usually only use the first team but if there's interest I'll include ye, it's now edited .
Its ok pass&move  I'll be interested to see what people think about different results. Will be hard to predict at the start until some bit of form develops
Firstly Minty:D(I cant belive your sayin your his cousin) the John Cotter we signed is a lot lighter than the John Cotter from Avondale,an a few years younger too mind ya.I wouldnt say no to Avondales Cotter though. Our Cotter is more of a striker come winger an very pacy.Pace will play a big part of our game this season, the football is there already just this season we hope to be a bit quicker on the ball.
No 2 for Minty. It was Collage Cor's we played up in Garryduff. With all due respect the reason why we played a couple of friendlys against Msl sides an not Aul sides is because we knew what to expect from a Msl side.T he game against Tramore as well it was all football they played in that game an that again suited us.Game against a physciall side arent something we dread its just its harder to creat anything when the ball is up in the air all the time.Msl side for the most part want to keep the ball on the ground, that suits us .We didnt really see the point in playin sides we were goin to hammer or get envolved with in a physcial battle.Whos foolin who,you might as well play what you will be expectin to play week in week out and at the same time improve your own game.
Bella,I used to play a bit but I'm retired now,,,,,,,,,,I hope. Our B team are all young lads for the most part an like the A side its football they prefer, hoofin it is a thing of the past.
Park ,I for one would be delighted if the A game is off because Fermoy Town is a no go area between 4 an 7 because of the traffic an the weather for the weekend is supposed to be woefull.
Littlemans words of wisdom,,,,,,,,,,If you have a decent or good pitch the weather over the past 4 weeks will have made it very very soft,if not flooded and any game will destroy it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, an if its a typical Aul pitch the weather wont have any effect on it an it will be wrecked anyway ,,,,,,,,,,,,all in all is it worth 3 points at the start of the season to destroy your pitch.

Sorry Rebel an Bella but our place is just a bit too soft,an with the weather for the weekend being as bad as we have been told it is just not worth doin any serious damage to our pitch. We tried Mayfield an Blarney to see if they were available an couldnt get them so it was a wiser decision to call it early an at least lads can work if they want.
Cheers 3rd for your vote of confidence.I can appriciate peoples opinions that all things blue an white may seem weaker beacuse of the recent changes in personel but only time will tell.I remember 4 seasons ago our last manager putin a side together of untried young players,it worked an is still workin.A few may have left but 90% of it is still there with new faces an I'm sure he would have enough faith in whats left to know they are still above what the Aul has to offer.
As most will know the majority of our side in recent years picked itself but when changes needed to be made we hurt teams with the caliber of player we could bring in.That hasnt changed.
Some times players can develope ten times quicker because you are forced to play them rather than not havin the faith in them from the start because there seems to be more dependable ones to choose from.Taking a risk on a young player is a very tough call, experience in seeing a rough diamond is not a common trait an we have been lucky to have a few people in charge over the years who could spot this kind of player.Chances are never easy to take, but we will take them when it comes to young players.
We are in the position now of having very young players again who want to prove that they are worth there place on the startin 11, and I think teams will be surprised by what we now have.Certain players will now have to step up to the plate an assume responsibility instead of takin for granted certain other players will come through when we need tham and I think that pressure will work for us instead of against us.
With regards to havin the best defence, defences make sure you dont lose games,an our record speaks for itself over the last 3 seasons.Lofty now as an option again only makes us even stronger an Peelo/Dalton an Gally to play with Shinky an Brian Sull gives us fantastic options.
For me the player to watch this season will be Decky Gostel,if he hits form he can be better than Jp or Danny.
Best of luck to all this weekend.

**** sake, weve no game next either which leaves me to this announcement,
SPRINGFIELD B LOOKING FOR FRIENDLY MIDWEEK, HOME OR AWAY WHICHEVER SUITS.
Was talking to a lad who was at the Coachford vs Villa game on Saturday. Coachford won 3-0, three sent off and there could have easily have been another couple. Game was much closer that the scoreline suggests, some bad individual mistakes by a few Villa players.
Leeds 1-0 Glenthorn B
0-0 until injury to our keeper in his first game for the club. Delay to wait for ambulance. Turns out his ankle is broken. The delay did us no favours. Were well on top but couldnt convert our chances. Got caught on the break. We had a corner at their end and they cleared it up the pitch and scored. Typical
Hi lads, haven't been on for a while but have kept up to date with all the posts. looks like Kinsale off with a big win any report on the game lads. Coachford had a good win against villa. I was talking to a member of the villa committee and he said they made 3 woeful mistakes and were punished.
Pity our game had to be called off looking forward to getting the ball rolling. away to park tomorrow and home to villa on thurs so fingers crossed that we get off to a good start. lets hope our fantastic summer doesn't affect any more games
