Were any of them wielding umbrellas?
That seems to be the weapon of choice of the Bohs lads, though perhaps that's the casuals rather than the schooligans. ;)

No brollies spotted. In other news Bohs fans produced what has to be the worst/strangest display yet to hit the LoI. Im not sure exactly what the giant flag was, but it had Super Mario on it doing something. THen there was another banner which said Super Mario Bohs. Very strange altogether, looked like a 5th class arts & crafts project. Hope someone got a pic.
Darragh Maguire, wtf?? :confused::mad:Quote:

Yeah neither side had a host of chances, and Bohs wouldn't have won if it wasn't for a nightmare mistake at the back. Rovers also had a half chance when O'Connor went on a run and hit the side netting. Bohs probably shaded it and were the better side thanks mainly to Crowe and McGuinness, but considering the difference in budgets/personnel you might expect Bohs to have a bit more about them.
Buttimer was atrocious. Rovers were atrocious and Bohs almost as atrocious for letting them back into it.
Great win, though. :D
If we there till now, we'd still be losing. After they scored, they shut up shop, and we couldn't break them down. Aimless punts up the field, free-kicks in good positions wasted, possession casually conceded, crosses into the middle of nowhere, Byrne's shot in the first half that was tipped onto the bar came about from an awful clearance from Ferguson, and as for the goal, let's be kind and say you don't expect someone as experienced as Darragh Maguire to fk up a routine defensive header. :(
There seems to be more pressure on the home side in these games, and we froze. Simple as really.
Delighted with our first win.
No way it was a penalty but Il take it.
Played much better imo and I enjoyed the game. Played a sort of 4-1-2-1-2 formation.
Great crod too for a game against UCD
ahhh dara you legend :D
was 3000 at pats game my guestimate, 300 derry.

Went to Santry for Sporting and Dundalk. Conditions in first half horrendous. Disappointed with Dundalk. Sporting took the game to them and Hynes caused them a lot of problems. Doyle was also looking lively till he got sent off. Didn't notice the first yellow but he was slightly late going in on the keeper for the second yellow, although in fairness, there was a lot of water on the pitch. However, anyone who wears black tights playing football will attract notice.
After the sending off, I thought Dundalk would take control but it was Fingal who were the beter side. Scored from a corner and had the best move of the game where Conan Byrne should have scored. Equaliser was a magnificent free kick which gave Williams no chance. Poor Dundalk performance which produced the the chant of the night from the Sporting fans; "what a waste of petrol". They got p@@@@d on as well.
Was at the sporting game as well. We played brilliantly considering we were down to 10 men for an hour. We made the best chances for most of the game up until they scored. In fairness though they could have nicked all 3 points towards the end. A decent tip over from williams, a long distance shot that just cleared the bar, Williams tipping a ball wide from a corner when two dundalk lads where waiting to score at the far post, A header which was saved and a bit of a scramble in the box.
All in all happy enough though. It seems we are pretty good at home. We just need to sort out our away form.
The display was a giant Mario crushing Tallaght Stadium with hooped Turtles running scared. Probably the most elaborate display ever in the LOI and p1ssed all over Rovers usual waving flags IMO but I'm biased.
PS - Glen Crowe is now Bohs record scorer of all time as he beat Turley's record last night in getting goal number 121.
Also his 15th goal against Rovers in 24 games.
i am absolutely gutted after last night... that derby defeat probably hurt me the most since that seme final in dalyer went that fat red **** scored in the last few minutes...
the performance was ****e but the rovers fans showed why they are the best fans in the league, singing till the end and giving the team a good clap off, if bohs had lost they would be running amuck... bohs scum:p
Singing to the end? There wasn't a peep out of you for the majority of the second half! Number 12 my hole.
yes we were... i dont think any team desrved the win... bohs defended brilliantly when rovers were pileing on loads of pressure... a draw would have been a fair result...
The Pats fans are very quiet on this forum today
Also there were Rovers fans leaving with 10 MINUTES LEFT!!! WTF? Its a Derby, THE DERBY and you're only 1-0 down and starting to put a bit of pressure on and you make for the exit? Buttimer was trying his best to give Rovers the draw too.
you werent robbed of anything mate .You were even worse than we were .Dont think mikko had a save to make .O keefe had 3 grat chances and kicked the ball striaght at rogers .You played with lots of heart and kept going for 90 mins but i dont think you looked like scoring tbh .
What ? Stop talking rubbish. Five games in, of which we've won four, and you think Johnny Mac is for the boot ?
Big hello to Flexy btw. :) )
On the game itself, Derry were excellent first half, I thought Pats had the better of the second. I know I'm biased, but I thought we were worth a point. Only a superb save from Doherty prevented another Fahey wonder goal. Bad error by Brendan Clarke for the Derry goal (which in fairness was very well taken by Morrison) probably showed his inexperience there by not planting the ball over the stand. I felt sorry for him though as he had a superb game otherwise and made a great save early on(from Farren I think?). A fine game overall in my view, even though we were on the wrong end of the scoreline.
Monday night at the Brandwell should be good.
It was a great game, Tony, as good a football match as I've seen in the league in terms of quality of play. A great advert for the league, both teams really tried their best to play good football, there was very little punting of the ball forward. (Even Clarke tried to pass the ball down the wing at one stage when he probably should have punted it. :p)
Actually, I thought it was a peno too, but then I could hardly have had a worse view of it. The Gardai and the few Cork fans I was talking to after said it was a dive.
Thought Cork probably deserved the win on the balance of play, but not nice to lose to a goal like that. Three times we've lost this season; arguably three games we should have drawn. Good to see we're more competitive than I thought we would be, but I'd rather get a few points.
do you get disowned as a Cork fan for posts like that? :p
