I like the 4-3-3 in principle but it really requires a very reliable goalscorer in the middle which we don't have.

Notice how MUFC have had a poor goal tally this year and how Portugal used to dominate games but suffered because Gomes and Pauleta (?) were very average in front of goal.

It worked for Chelsea because when required they also got their fair share of goals from set pieces and from midfield, mainly Lampard.

I'd be inclined to stick with an attacking 4-4-2.

By the way, I thought our set pieces were much better on Saturday.

Kav has to play ahead of Kilbane or Holland. In fairness Kilbane and Holand is probably the worst Central midfield partnership we have ever had.

My preference would be Andy Reid and Roy in the middle but seeing as there would be nobody to play on the right then, it has to be Kav.

And Duff has to play on the left. He might as well have not been on the pitch against the Swiss when played out of position. Reid is a more versitile player which is why he should switch him to the right.

I wouldnt even bring O'Shea to Torshavn, injuries or not. Someone said he reminds them of Babb. I agree. Is it just because he plays for ManUre (sometimes) or what. Docherty would be a better option at centre half. Hes slow but he will get stuck in. Oshea was like bambi in his tackling on Saturday. I can forgive the fcuker for his distribution (as hes a defender) but his defending was absolutely woeful. Agree that Docherty, Cunningham and Harte all lack pace but fcuk it win 5-2 with all out attack.

Ditto, thought that had a lot to do with Kavanagh, his corners were perfect, far post every single time. Duff seemed to have difficulty beating the first man with his. Harte took his goal well, but didn't do much else right with set pieces.

If we're to use these against the Faroes, it'll have to be Doc to start, his height will cause confusion and panic in the opposition and he'll be able to lay the ball off well to any onrunning striker/midfielder.

On a light note, I was watching Lee & Liam Miller kicking the ball to each other at about 7.15 on Saturday. They were 30 feet from each other. Lee shanked a simple rolled pass to Miller and missed him by about 20 yards. Reminded me of my playing days.

No, he wasn't called up.
Not one for conspiracy theories, but from memory, the last time he was in a squad (friendly at lansdowne last year, bulgaria I think, but not 100%), he was on the bench, warmed up with everyone else before the match, but didn't emerge for the half-time warm-up and wasn't seen again. Hasn't been called up since, I believe. And had a more successful season than Lee, it might be said.

1) Kerr did nothing wrong, he had no option to bring on Kavanagh for Keane
2) O'Shea did not commit a foul for the penalty
3) Our draw on Saturday was down to just bad luck

Personally I think he did a hell of a lot wrong. For a start I didn't agree with his team selection but the most shocking thing he did was to take off Reid for Doherty. Reid was our most dangerous attacking player for the whole game and when you consider that the likes of Holland and Kilbane had contributed nothing in the whole game, it was a brutal decision.

I nearly cried when I saw him do it to be honest.

I agree with you on your point that the penalty was a joke, but the draw was not entirely down to bad luck.

personally im surprised no one has started up a Josh - your crap ! why bother ? thread. Josh hasnt made any progress in the last few years and I dont think he will either .. Still better than Hearte but that doesnt take much beating.

1 - He had 2 strikers on the bench, 2 better options the way the games was going IMO. Had Kavanagh scored the winner, we'd all be saying something different

I think it was by far and away mostly down to bad luck.

• Robbie Keane gets injured and should have got a penalty
• Matt Holland makes a decent tackle and the ref gives a free kick which the Israeli's scored from. There was a lot of luck with the header too as there was no way he could have aimed for top corner.
• Given mis-kicks the ball which resulted in the Israeli's gaining possession and O'Shea giving away a peno. I don't know if a mis-kick can be put down to bad luck but still a penalty is hardly Kerr's fault.
• The ball is on the way into the Israel net but it hits Duff in the head.
• Awat hadn't a clue where O'Shea's header was going and it somehow hits his under arm.
• Awat was allowed to spend most of the second half time wasting
• Awat gives O'Brien a box and O'Brien gets sent off for tugging him

Any decent referee and we would have won that match which to me says it was mainly down to luck. Holland's tackle was a fair one and if it was a decent ref he wouldn't have given that free kick and therefore O'Shea wouldn't have fouled Benayoun in injury time.

Come on this is the faroes here!! We dont need keane in defence. The DOC has enough about him to control the defence. Then let Keane control the midfield and lay of the ball simple to the flair players like duff and reid. A job roy keane is far more equipped to do than that idiot holland who altho had a good game on saturday is always 'there abouts' when the tackle should be made. How many times do you see holland there with a stretched out leg seconds after the ball has gone?

Agree with this team 100% playing Roy at centre back.

I am confident that Kerr will start Duff up front and just rejig the midfield so that Roy plays in the centre and Kilbane plays on the left. To me and you, this is a mistake, but we have done it before and Kerr isn't that experimental. Evidence to suggest this is that Kerr had the option of bringing Elliott on like-for-like for Robbie, but didn't have the faith in him to do the job. I have my doubts if so much will have changed in 4 days.

The defence will contain no alarms and no surprises either, I don't believe Kerr would play McCarthy in a World Cup Qualifier and I don't think he has the viewpoint or the opportunity to drop O`Shea.

I'm not entirely sure how I would like us to start our frontline. There is an argument for playing Doc up front because of his strength and aerial presence. But, this is the area I'd expect the Faroes to be good in, big strong centre halves who will clear up headers bravely if needs be. Maybe a better line of attack is to try and out football them. Give Reider and Duff a license on the wings to rome forward and dribble the ball around the Faroes the best they can and have Elliott and Clint on hand to knock in the scraps. If it gets late in the day and its not working, then by all means bring on the Doc to nick us a goal. I don't think O`Shea should be dropped for this game.

Well if thats the case I'm 110% sure Doc will start at centre half. :) Kerr won't risk O'Shea there and Doc has played there plenty of times under Kerr.

I just read that Morrisson is a doubt, lower back injury, but Kerr says he should be OK.
