Alot of Leagues inculding Waterford went to u17 and u19 leagues this year to cope with the date change. Why didn't the TSDL??
All the clubs sat in a room with TSDL an only 3 wanted U19 and no one spoke up for U17,s as they would have to use some U16's to make up teams and U17's would have been playing every Sat so would not work. By the end of the meeting all but 1 wanted to try to get U18 Teams together. The U19 thing is only a one of and all Leagues must go back to U18 next season so it was felt TSDL teams might as sort it out now.
Well said West Hammer - that is exactly what happened at that meeting. No doubt this year of transition on the age has proved unfortunate for some clubs (it is happening in other jurisdictions also). We are talking about a difficult age group but surely in a town with the population of Clonmel there is more than sixteen youths playing the game. With Clonmel Celtic gone from the first division this means there is only four teams competing. I also heard Donohill and Bansha couldn't muster enough youth players so they have amalgamated. This means the second division has just five teams.
According to fixture page on TSDL site the game is on this Friday.

Clonmel Credit Union Premier League at 7
St. Michael's v Peake Villa
Just heard peake refusing to play and won't fufill fixture so not sure what happening as fixture is fixed it will be interesting to see how the tsdl deal with it
Town assistant manager John McLean and Mike Comerford on there way back to Town, breaking news........
Game is off as far as I know. The fairest thing would be to give Saints the 3 points. That is Peake's 2nd time trying to cancel the fixture. Saints are ready, willing and able to play this fixture tonight. Fixture on their website, Peake aren't supposed to be able to field a team. It's not a St. Michael's Problem to sort, it's the TSDL problem. bit early in the season for teams to be acting up.
Good to see that things were sorted out in Town and the two lads are coming back.
Saintsfan the game was called off the first time round due to circumstances outside of anybody’s control so I don’t think you can blame peake for that. They are dead right not to play the game tonight. What they are being asked to do is nothing short of a disgrace. It’s similar to what went on with the Joe Delaney cup final and Town refusing to play it common sense needs to prevail in situations like this.
I'm not saying anything about why it was called off the 1st time. I want to make that clear - No one disputes a game being called off because of a Bereavement in a Club. All I am saying is that the TSDL re-fixed this fixture for tonight, Saints are willing to play even though they have another game on Sunday. As someone else mentioned above, it won't do anybody any harm - game tonight and then another one on Sunday. Like I said, it's a TSDL problem to fix - not either team involved.
Riduclous to aks teams to play on Friday night and again Sunday and I presume midweek of next week as well, whether teams are willing to play or not,if tsdl insist on fixture and peake refuse to play then there will only be one outcome and that will go only one way.and it won't be peakes.
In my opinion there was no need to fix this game for tonight, it’s not as if we are near the end of the season and there is a back log of fixtures that it needed to be re-fixed for 40 hrs before another massive game. As I said yesterday players need time to get off work and 3 days notice is not enough for any game at any level of football. It’s an 8 team league and as we seen last year some teams were finished in February surely you would have taught the fixture secretary would have learned something from this.
Is there any youths playing soccer anymore? Hot on the heals of Clonmel Celtic pulling out of youth football, now rumoured Cashel Town have no youths team. This means just 4 teams in each division. Is soccer losing out to GAA, rugby, modern technology gadgets, girls, booze - what is it?
No nonsense I don't think it's a case of soccer losing out to other codes I'm involved with a gaa club and we had to join up with another club at minor / 16 and it's just not us other clubs in the county are joining up also rugby changed their age groups last year and the knock on effect was staggering wher you had 115/16 playing u19 crazy stuff. I do think though the real reasons are more to do with their social lives and our greater society in general
To be fair Bilkos remarks are nothing compared to the remarks the Celtic players and supporters used on Facebook about Town after the game the other night it was nothing short of disgraceful what some of them were saying and this was after beating Town,at least Clonmel Town would never stoop so low as some of them did the other night anybody that wants to check it out just visit Paddy O Donnells page on Facebook and he wasnt the only one at it.
Your spot on Preds theres plenty of time to re arrange that fixture
If it was said on facebook then it is not a matter for this forum, but if you want to get into this tit for tat rubbish then maybe you should quote some of the abuse thrown by Clonmel Town supporters during the game Tuesday night. Also there was quite a few ignorant comments on Facebook last season from people involved with Clonmel Town about Clonmel Celtic. There are no angels on either side don't try and pretend that there is. Lets stick to the football side of things. If you dont rate a player or players thats fine thats football related, leave all the other rubbish out of it.
This is a football site, keep the facebook stuff where it belongs.
Chops I’m not on face book and don’t intend ever going on it so I will take you at your word. As I said there is no place for any of that rubbish talk on this site. I believe we are all mature enough to look beyond that type of stuff and talk about more important football matters. If people used the energy they waste from bitching into more important things like trying to keeping youth football going it would have allot more benefit.
