Strikes me as an excellent time, I'd love to hear his side of the argument directly. And there's no point in putting it off. Unless somebody - like Rooney for example - does something to fix the FAI, there will /always/ be a big issue that needs to be dealt with. In my view, he needs to sweep the hobbyists, hangers-on and and moneygrubbers out the door and get the FAI and the League running like a proper business. Starting at the top seems like a good idea, and paying someone well for a job well done is par for the course. IF he does his job well that is. Bonuses should be based on performance. Bonuses for just turning up are just idiocy. There's my question for Rooney right there. :)

It would be a excellent time to get an interview but perhaps a less likely time to get an interview!
Perhaps I should have said talentless hack moneygrubbers. :)
To be completely honest I don't know how talented Rooney is as a businessman, but I get the impression he's no moron and he has a fair idea of what he's doing. I get a starkly contrasting impression of the rest of the management of the FAI. The organisation's been run over the years with a level of incompetence that defies the imagination.
I take your point about it being a difficult time to get an interview but as I said, there'll always be something with the FAI. If we wait for them to get their house in order, who knows how long it will take? We're giving Rooney an opportunity to come here and refute these kinds of assertions and talk directly to the fans he claims to respect so much directly.
It's an offer I wouldn't turn down if I was him, but of course I'm not him.

It was meant as a tongue in cheek remark.Quote:
