Its quite easy for the **** fans to slag off our Club, ground, support etc.
Look, we dont own the RSC and the TD's that represent Waterford couldnt give a rat's ass to lay a finger in helping us develop the ground. I hate the place but there isnt much we can do about it.

Our poor support: The Jimmy McGeough saga and the antics of our Chairman turned alot of fans and potential investors away from the Club. The presense of the resurgent hurling team in the county has seen the Waterford public (bandwagoners the lot of em) get behind the boggers for the annual three games out for an excuse of a big **** up. They have no interest at the moment in WUFC and until such a time we do become successful and win a major trophy, the public will find another bandwagon to hop on.

The support at the Cup Final was shocking. I admit the 3,500 is our hardcore support who go to the RSC on an on-off basis throughout the season. The rest of the Wateford sporting public who 'love the county' (John Mullanesque like)went to the pub to watch the ManUre - ARSEnal game and just couldnt be bothered going to the Cup Final in supporting a team representing the county but instead support every summer a bunch of over inflated prima madonnas who spit at fellow players, crease a hurley accross a rival oponent and give the v-signs to rival supporters.

Then again no matter what I say, it will all fall on deaf ears and the 'sheepshagger' 'small village team' crap will be used. :rolleyes:

As far as i am concerned it is Derry city one of them threatned to break my legs because i posted a picture on the Harps forum which he drafted. :mad:

How was I being arrogant?? I was merely stating the obvious in saying that Cork City have by far the largest home and away support in the country and that at away games we are probably the noisiest and most colourful. That's not arrogance Macy, it's fact. If I was being arrogant I would have said that it's always been like this but of course I am honest enough to admit that it wasn't, you only have to go back about 10 years and things were a lot different for City fans. However, that was then and this is now and I think we are more than entitled to boast.

I wasn't having a go at GAA fans at all, I was just trying to point out how many bandwagon supporters Longford have and was getting at the way a lot of them sit in the stand silently for most of the game but if they score they just chant "Longford dum dum dum etc". I know the section O crowd make an effort there's just not anywhere near enough of ye for ye to make an impact.
On Longford's population, yes it's small but for ye to get 10,000 people watch ye win the cup one week and for them not to be impressed enough to come back the next week and ye end up with 1000 is a joke. Ye must be tearing ye're hair out wondering what ye have to do because for ye to win two cup finals and still get such paltry attendances refleclts very badly on the Longford sporting public.

It would have to be the 4,200 Rovers fans who have not been seen regularly at the showgrounds since 1994.

Well said Colm ...Cork have excellent fans ...I wish every Eircom League ground had the same atmosphere as turners cross.Yeare a credit to cork with the amount of noise and support that ye give... Fair play

1. Have a look through the thread, it's not only fans of Cork City have commented on how poor your support is. Of course, you would never miss a chance to have a go at Cork City, it's a wonder you didn't manage to work "fat" into your post somewhere.
2. Nobody is slagging off your support, the thread is about "worst fans", and people have simply posted who they think are the worst.
3. I posted that it was unfair in some ways to say any club has the worst fans as every club has a group who try their best. Waterford have a small group who always make an effort, and they are to be encouraged and congratulated for that. However, Waterford fans themselves complain just how bad their support can be at times, and the things you gave as excuses for poor support apply to every other club in the country.

OK, i took you up wrong. It is indeed very frustrating that the bandwagoners don't return often enough and it is a poor reflection on the Longford sporting public. I think all clubs have an element of bandwagon support though which rears its head at cup finals

Granted, end-of-season, title-chasing v. crappy lashing rain day, but there's one straight up for you! ;)

I am quite sure that I took you up correctly Colm and may I explain for your information that attendance at the FAI cup final is not indicative of the pool of local support available for the following reasons.
1. Longfordians travelled from abroad(mostly England and America) to share in the occasion.
2. Supporters also travelled from all over Ireland who would not be in a position to travel to Longford every week.
3. Regular supporters exorted their friends, relations to attend and brought all their own clans for what was a great family celebration.
4. Every club would expect to get people to travel to a final who would not normally have much interest in the team. This is normal and nothing to complain about, as we welcome everyone who can help to urge on the team in a big match, and maybe give us the edge as certainly happened against Waterford.

By the way I am still classing you with Con and Frank Murphy. :p

agreed. the BD do their best in fairness.

In this order:

1. Bohs- for the unfounded arrogance ("Big Club" :rolleyes: ) and the crap atmosphere in dalymount.
2. Home Farm- or maybe that deserves a separate thread called "Worst fan." :rolleyes:
3. Every team in the country which has little brats running out of control- nothing more annoying- pats and bray especially bad for this.

Maybe we're not so bad after all. I expected a ton of nominations for Rovers fans as "worst fans". Despite the noise, and colour we bring to the league, some people can't see past the headlines that the minority create.

The worst fans title has to go jointly to Home Farm, and UCD fans. They have so few fans, who never create an atmosphere for any match - period. They'll never be asked to leave the ground separately, or need a police escort after games, like what happens to us occasionally.

We (and Dublin City fans) are the worst fans because we've never gotten a police escort?! :rolleyes: You're in danger of stereotyping Rovers fans as fans who enjoy getting into trouble and take pride in needing police attention. You're also largely confusing "worst fans" with "fewest fans".

I'm guessing here Colm but was there not an occasion last season where there was about 8000 at a European match and then the next home league game there was "only" about 1500 (most other teams would still love that).

Yes it was a game against Bohs, in between the Malmo games, and most people got f*cking pneumonia for their troubles....:( . A downpour all day long, ****ed down all through the game, City dominated the entire match, yet Grant got a poxy goal before half time to win it. And yes, all this in front of about 1800 people.....:mad:

Dundalk fans. For years they were always there or thereabouts but they had pathetic support. The towns obsession with wankpool is nauseating as well. But what clinched it for me was one of the last times we were there and after the game taking down my Rovers TRICOLOUR when 2 local scummers spat on it :confused:

Also b**z fans. Absolutely ****s with their casual crap and they even have a flag to celebrate their "casualness". How cringe inducing. Feel sorry for their normal fans who are outnumbered by some prime waste.

You misunderstood me also. I awarded the title of worst fans to both clubs because they have very few fans, and what fans they have are as quiet as a mouse during the entire game. They bring zero atmosphere to any game their team plays in. It must be very disheartening for both clubs' players knowing that even for home games, the away team always has more fans, because they don't have enough fans of their own to support them.

No, we don't enjoy the label we get, and the negative publicity we attract, especially as 95% of the fans never cause any trouble. But then again UCD and Home Farm's fans who attend their games don't have to be harassed by stewards, put in segregated areas of grounds, be asked to wait for the opposition fans to leave the ground before we can, or need police escorts after away games, because of the reputation of a small number of our fans. As they have so few fans, it's not worth the bother.

Can't believe you actually wrote that again. Congratulations. You now have the two stupidest posts I have ever read. We had stewards kick some of out of Turner's Cross a few years ago for drinking in the stand - does that make us good fans now? :rolleyes:

To even associate good fans with police escorts is a disgrace. Such posts and views have no place within the eL. The league have enough of problems as it is.

We've had our fair share of bother with Cobh.I remember a Cup game down in Colman's couple of years ago(Kirby scored the winner from the spot for us,we won 1-0),there was a bit of bother in the ground and our bus was surrounded when we got back to it.All little scumbags ranging in age from 10-21+ armed with bricks and bottles.We got a Garda escort out of there but got stopped in the middle of town,one of the little scumbags accused 1 of our fans of assaulting him.The Gardai brought him onto both of our buses to identify his attacker,which he couldn't do.It later turned out it was 1 of his own lot assaulted him!!!!
Another time up in the RSC(we were still in the First Division),some of them arrived down for a game(not too sure if it was a league game or League Cup),think it finished 2-2 with "Donuts" Golden scoring twice for them!!There was at least 6 of them removed from the ground!!!

A. I consider the reference in your previous post, to drink being involved at the time of my earlier post, to be personally attacking the poster. You will find throughout these boards, that my posts have been submitted at or around that time. They are coherent, punctual, and can be understood. This is a 24-hour open forum, I can only post at those times, so what on earth has drink got to do with it?? :confused:

B. Throughout this thread, many posters have named certain clubs for having worst fans based on their lack of numbers, and/or lack of noise. I selected two clubs for those reasons. What is confusing about that?

C. Since when did I associate good fans with police escorts? I was merely trying to explain, that our fans receive special treatment from certain clubs when we visit their grounds, based on the reputation of 5% of our support. Such treatment is unnecessary and unfair, to those of us who make up the law-abiding majority, who just want to watch the game, free of dramas, and distractions, like fans of other clubs.

I hope my latest post has cleared up any earlier confusion.
