Mayo Players

Surely sligo have had a few?
If not shame on the bit o red

Good thread this. We (Pats fans) were trying to figure out recently how may counties we've had players from. Not that many. Loads from Galway and Waterford though.

None from Mayo that we could think off

Ray McLoughlin,left full from westport. Played with Athlone Town,Shamrock rovers and sligo rovers. Currently playing with westport(i think)

Evan is actually from Ballyglass Football Club and has a younger brother Ryan, who recently signed for Derby County and is an Irish International.

He is. I think the lad was from Ballinrobe. He definitely went to school there.

Ya, he is a Ballinrobe lad. Played for Sligo Rovers during Don O Riordans time. Won an U-21 All-Ireland with Mayo a couple of years ago. good keeper

Ya, he is from Mayo and can play left midfield or striker. never played for a LOI team, signed for Derby County last January from Ballyglass F.C. when he turned 16.

John Jordan I see has been mentioned and I thought he was a great player. Started with Sligo Rovers under Tommy Cassidy then formed a partnership with Paul Mctiernan under Don O Riordan. It never really gelled though one of them always seemed to been out injured. Jordan was a right battler great around the box and good in the air for a small fellow. I think injury finished his LOI career in the end (only about two seasons in all) might of played a bit of junior football for awhile afterwards I heard.

Hey Redbellied, I thought I read somewhere that John Jordan was
from London. Am I wrong, is he from Mayo ?

Former Galway United midfielder Michael Keane is from Mayo.

We also had a player from Swinford on our books in the 1991-1992 season, Adrian Moran. I can't remember his position.

Think he is from Foxford, played junior football with them.

Simon Webb's brother Marc was on Kildare's books at one point I believe. Or was it just Football Manager lying to me?
