Was told something along similar lines this evening. The City Council have not yet have the go ahead due to planning technicalities.
Preliminary work may start in December, the stand itself probably wont be starting until the New Year.
My own opinion is that it is unlikely to be completely ready for the start of the new season.
Work on the re-alignment of the floodlights in Terryland Park has started this week.
The additional information required by the planners has been lodged since
my last post on this topic. There should be a decision within two weeks - before
Christmas.
Good news PD.
Whats the chances of the council looking at the proposals before xmas? arent they on "xmas holidays" soon???
I am told that progress on the planning front is expected before Christmas. Will update this thread in two weeks. Hopefully it won't be another "2-3 weeks" post.
good that something is finally happening
There has been a huge amount of work put into this by both the Galway FA and Galway United and once the work starts people will be amazed how quickly it will be built.
has any one got or know where you can get a picture / artists impression or even a sketch of what the new stand will look like?
Best I can tell you galwayhoop is that I have been told it is similar in design to Cork City's main stand at turners cross. You can check out there website to see it.
Noel Connolly has the drawings in Terryland. The good news is it is cantilever so no poles and some of the poles on the other stand will be removed as and when the lights are realligned. I would say by april you will see what it looks like.
It was announced at the last AGM of the EL yesterday that the Development Committee are to get a further grant of E75,000 for the stand project.
that was mentioned on 11 a side as well

No news on it from the council so?
No but anyone involved in the planning process wouldnt be surprised with that.
Is hoped that stand is to be finished by end of may but more likely end of june before its open
it is hoped a big enlish team will come over and play a friendly to offically open it
thats a great idea - hopefully it gets off the ground
any news from the planning side of things? It would want to get moving soon !!! I was passng terryland last week to and noticed nothing has been done with the floodlights yet? I thought work had already started on them before the xmas?
yes terry they have been working on upgrading them but they wont be moved until the new stand is up. The planning decision will not be until 3 weeks time due to changes in the plans . Next time your passing call in and ask at the office they will tell you whats going on .
is there much been changed in the plans?. id say we'r looking at end of season/ next season before completion
