Apparently there's over 20,000 Carroll's in Ireland. I've never met a non-related Irish Carroll though. :(

Assuming you live in Derry, i'd have a guess that it's the area you live, i know a good few Carrolls down here, also my name is Gilligan i've only ever met one non-related person with the same name, it's meant to be a Derry name, so i'd assume you'd know a few up there aswell?!

Well, my da's from Fermanagh and my granda from Leitrim. It's a Carlow/Kilkenny name originally though. Spent the weekend in Offaly, and there seems to be a few round there actually, judging from business names.

Gilligan is County Derry name really. I know one Gilligan, and he's from Donegal. :D
