Good news to a point. His replacement will most probably be Benzema, who is a better player. One less to worry about though.
Benzema was shocking tonight imo.
Benzema better than Ribery?? Some of what you are smoking, please!
He's on the bench for them anyway...but still good to hear he prob won't pop up of the bench to do a bit of damage!
Still, not sure if I totally believe this yet! Goal.com is a poor website and regularly jumps the gun.
He's so overrated.
Benzema has 8 goals in 27 appearances for France, Ribery 8 in 40. In some ways it doesn't matter whether Ribery or Benzema plays because if Trap chooses Kilbane at left-back we're in trouble either way.
Govou has replaced Ribery in the French team up to now
Benzema has been used as a striker
Based on what Domenech has used, his team for Dublin is likely to be
Loris ?
Sagna Gallas Abidal Evra
Diarra Toulalan
Govou Gourcuff Henry
Anelka
Benzema was woeful tonight. This is the latest on Ribery

we need one big thread dedicated to injury updates for both sides as the game nears...... That would be cool.
Ribery is dangerous but slightly predictable.
I'd be more worried about Henry. I just hope we double up on Henry.
Benzema isn't a winger. He's a striker.
yyessssssssss :D
Shouldnt he be in the "So farewell then!" thread?
Good riddance and there will be others. A French team without Gourcuff and Gignac would be great...
I post on a forum where posting an article from goal.com gets you a temporary ban.
The news seems to be all over the place now though:

i really hope he is out but prob end up been back just in time :( wouldnt want to see him injured - just dont want to see him against us.

Ribery is top class and proven at the top level. Benzema is a good player but hes the type of player we can cope with at the back, hes not as quick as some of their other players, Govou, Henry, Ribery...these are the tricky dangermen for us with our 4 tugboats at the back.
We can rough this lot up though, its our only chance to kick the living daylights out of them and hope Robbie sticks one in.
We are up against it.
No of course not. My point was the Benzema is just as, if not more, prolific as Ribery. I've seen Benzema a couple of times in the flesh and he can play wide. Whether he does or not is another question. I just don't think Ribery gone makes it much easier. We've a Sh1t left back that's our problem.
A €100m loss of talent, if the Bayern bosses estimation is to be believed.
The whole French Team would have to be out injured for it to be good news. They have so many quality players to choose from, they could probably play their junior team and they would still beat us if we play the way we did against montenegro. It was the worst game of football I have EVER SEEN.
I thought the away 2-1 win against Cyprus was the worst trap game ever. Long balls lumped all night. Its like he decided to become Charlton for one game and then ditched it.
Will Ribery be fit or is he going to miss just the 1st Leg
No,i think his second leg is missing too.If he finds his first one he will play
Its 2-3 months if he has surgery and 1 month if he doesnt.
Still can't believe people are citing the Montenegro game as an indicator of Trap or the quality of our team. It was literally the most meaningless competitive game of all time.
Agree with that, though I think we should have been pushing for the win and put in a much better performance if nothing else but for our coefficient points.
Not to mention that, all in with travel costs, match ticket and refreshments:D it put me back a couple of hundred yoyo's plus 2 days off work...but thats another issue!!!
Agreed - The performance in that game however will bear no resemblance to the one on 14th and 18th November!!
Speculation Henry is moving to the New York Red Bulls for next season. Winding down time. http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news;_yl...=afp&type=lgns
montenegro game is no barometer to where we were...players were going through the motions!!france are overrated, struggled through their group which wasnt particularly tough, henry is well passed it,benzema has looked unimpressive so far at madrid, big step up from a very poor french league....people will say he scored plenty of goals ther,so did the like of diouf, cisse, guivarch!!
their defence isn't as strong as ours...if we keep a clean sheet a home i'd fancy our chances in paris...the home support tend to turn very easily in paris,i predict 0-0 in dublin and 1-1 in paris to take us through
forgot to mention ribery is their best player so his absence is a huge plus for us
