    Happy Chrismas!

Happy Christmas, one and all - and to all you hold dear - with this (most definitely) NSFW advice...

And thanks, everybody, for all the laughs, put-downs and one-liners, the insights, updates and inside tracks that have made this site so memorable this year.

Hello, hello? What's going on? What's all this shouting, we'll have no trouble here!

Chrismas is the time of year when we all get together to remember the birth of Chris. Sure you remember Chris, don't you? He used to live just round the corner, went to St. Mochta's

The 't' is silent after all. Otherwise we'd pronounce it Christ-mas.

St Mocker's, I think you mean! Twinned with the Self-Deprecating Academy of Speling and Grammur, iirc!!

Reminds me of the meeting between Jean Harlow and Margot Asquith when she kept pronouncing it Margott, rather than Margo. Asquith turned to her and said: 'no, dear, the t is silent, as in Harlow.'

Or that "overheard in Waitrose" comment:

"Daddy, does Lego have a silent "T" like merlot?"
"After the nuclear holocaust, the only things to survive will be the cockroaches and Bray Wanderers"
