    A Thread

Are we to assume missiles on Baghdad tonight at 1am?
Dunno why they didn't go in straight after Saddam rejected Bushs ultimatum/threat.
My guess is they have everything set military-wise for 01:00:00 20th of March exactly.
P.s. this isn't going to be any war.
Its gonna be all one way.

    i hate replying to me.

    from1:15 according to BBC.
Apparently, the "allies"(isn't it just a duo?) are in the demilitarized zone, possibly ten kms into Iraq.
Doubt it'd be land invasion straight awy and i pray that it isn't.
I'm presuming land war would result in a higher death-toll.

A number of groups are advocating a ten minute work-stoppage at noon on the day that war actually breaks out - almost definitely tomorrow - I think that as many people should support this as possible.

        Lecturers, staff and students.
        Good idea.
Does anyone in power take notice of the protests though?

            Re: ya

I think we should follow the UK's lead and gather at City Hall. (It's been suggested that people gather at Parliament in the UK.) I can't see a lot of people turning up if it happens at 3am though.

Does anyone in power take notice of the protests though?

Not straight away, but that's not a good enough reason to not have them. Continued protest could have an affect.

                  Ill do it alright

but fecking Kerryman Students Union President better not hijack the occasion.
I'm all for marches but the su and its supporters are anti-everything.
Get the rte cameras down for when we're in the quad to witness the amazing(once in a lifetime?) site of thousands of ucc students actually dossing.
I'll join anti-war protests out of hopelessness, rather than any hope of achieving recognition.

Plan for Dublin is the work stoppage (I suppose I'll have to actually do something for that to be worthwhile) and a protest at the US Embassy on the evening it starts (or the following evening), followed by a March and Rally on the following Saturday....
If you attack me with stupidity, I'll be forced to defend myself with sarcasm.

From what I can gather (i.e. what the so called defence experts on Sky news are saying) there will be air strikes for the first 12 to 24 hours. This will be followed by two seperate ground invasions, one from the north and a much larger one from the south. The northern invasion is not expected to meet much resistance but the primary invasion from the south is expected to be disrupted by a brigade of Iraq's republican guards.
The objective is to secure the Cities and Oil fields (which Saddam is expected to try to sabotage) along the way as troops march on Baghdad, where they're expecting to be met with huge resistance.

From where are troops gonna get into the North?
