Oriel Park passed fit for derby match

    From Ireland.com
    Paul O'Hehir

24/08/2005: Friday’s FAI Carlsberg Cup third-round derby game between Dundalk and Drogheda United will go ahead at Oriel Park as scheduled.

But Fifa appointed inspectors spent much of yesterday and this morning carrying out tests on the playing surface and delivered their approval in a technical report to the FAI this afternoon.

"The results of the inspection conclude that the pitch has passed all the criteria set out in the testing procedure," an FAI spokesman said.

It was supposed to be a joke, nothing more. There are other threads discussing the merrits or otherwise of the new pitch.

Hooray the dodgy pitch is ready. Now if only they could bring someone in to pass the town of Dundalk itself as habitable.......
