    World Rowing

Ireland's lightweight fours won silver medal today in the World Champs in Japan. This si the team that finished 6th at the last worlds and also 6th in the Olympics last year. They were the youngest team in the final

The Womens lightweight doubles finished 5th in their final and the other irish olympic class boat (mens heivyweight four) finished 10th in their first full season together.

The two on Olympic class boats both reached the Semi finals too

A terrific performance by the whole squad

Resurrect a 13 year old thread ! I think the O'Donovan brothers' success now places then ahead of the women's hockey team as the most successful Irish sporting team ever ?? And Sanita Puspure a gold winner as well. Now, can they carry that on to the Olympics ? ((I since have seen that Sanita is 36 so she'll be doing well to carry that form on to the Olympics)).

Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

Just thought I'd point out a weird quirk of Irish rowing... the team won two golds at the World Championships today - this means that, for the fourth Championships in a row, Ireland has ended up with two golds and two bronzes.
