    DDSL referee assaulted

A referee allegedly assaulted by an adult during a schoolboy game on Saturday has called on his Dublin league and the Gardai to take appropriate action against the perpetrator.

Shocking stuff but what's as bad are the comments on Facebook seeking to justify the assault based on the referees decisions in the game!

It is not a surprise really that football referees are assaulted when you see the absolute contempt shown for them by the Sky Pundits week in, week out. This permeates to all levels of the game.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.
