Agreed. The level of moderation can be stringent and arguably could do with a little diplomacy at times, but is a necessary bunjee chord the maintain standards of this forum. I’d rather err too close to the strict if I had to choose.

I'd suggest it's inconsistency (both in terms of the approach of various mods and the manner in which different posters are treated) rather than strictness that raises eyebrows from time to time.
