    So the answer is no.

But at least we got a Premier Division licence. Although with the other clubs who got one, you have to wonder just how hard it is to fail.

I'm glad really, we don't have a team to compete in the premier. The second half of last year was soul destroying, I couldn't take a repeat.

      Ask Cobh!

True in a way, but the friendlies this year have me all optimistic again.

I know! So they're either (a) really really really screwed or (b) not big enough for the FAI to look after.

Athlone and Cork's licences are provisional based on clearing off debt, as is Cobh's, interestingly, and by extention, Kildare's.

          Could be both!

By extension? They're listed the same as the other 3. I wonder would Salthill would be next in line for the first division if someone doesn't get their conditions sorted out? It'd be very short notice if they're preparing for the A League in June.

Just commented on that in the main forum thread. It could be just a very badly worded release. Makes more sense. Otherwise, Cobh's A Licence is in trouble.

Saw on another forum (Rovers, I think) that the A League begins in early April.

Also, is an A team a criterion of a Premier licence?

That was how I read it. Kildare would still have a first division licence even if Cobh get one on appeal.

That'd make more sense. Maybe last year's was late because it was the first one.

All premier teams had to enter an A team last year, I assume the same is true this year. I don't know if that's part of the licence application, probably a moot point though.

The U-21s league used always start late. Maybe they realised in the wake of Kildare's relegation that if you were going to relegate a team into the A League, it really should be a proper division. Also, I think it's bigger this year.

Only point is if it's a criterion, we've confirmed an A Team. I still expect us to be entering one though.

OK, I didn't see what you were getting at. It can't be a criterion then because Monaghan didn't have one last year despite their premier licence.

                    True.

Anyway, roll on 5pm! Going to miss Ryan's pub, but we can try get Bald Student's suggestion of a cycle v train race to Kildare back on.

My money's on Bald Student taking a long time to cycle to Kildare given his likely starting point.

He's not gone for the whole season like!

Be a good charity fundraiser for the club though. He could cycle to next year's game.
