    Can we survive?

Four points adrift from safety and eight games remaining. Harps have a game in hand and although it's against Drogheda there's a possibility of them taking at least a point from that one. We've only three wins to our name so far this season. Does anyone feel we can start picking up points in the run in? Individually we have some talented players in Gregg, Kenna, McNally, Duggan, McFaul, Finn, King, Fitz, Purcell and Meenan and yet it just doesn't seem to be happening for us. Even if Cork were to Sheligated we'd still need to be 10th to avail of such a deus ex machina. I now feel certain we won't finish above the relegation zone, does anyone feel differently? I'd be delighted to be proved wrong.

      Think there's two issues.

      1) Is the squad good enough? Definitely.

      2) Is the team good enough? Probably not.

No idea why the latter is the case. Harps are a very poor side technically, yet we gifted them the game by being a shambles at the back and toothless up front. We probably had as much possession and as many corners and dangerous frees as them, yet they created eight excellent chances to our none. When there was a loose ball in the box, they had a pop, where we didn't. When there was a corner, they got a head to it where we didn't.

Still some big games to go - Cobh, Cork, Sligo, Rovers and Galway are all winnable in theory, and if anyone can choke, it's Harps. And with the league seemingly about to implode, this is the one season I'd want to stay up in, cos I think we'd be OK next year when spending comes down to more realistic levels.

But, we'll just have to wait and see.

When was our last win? No, really, I can't remember. There's still time, but until we get a win... well, you know.

That recently? Wow, this season is sapping. I must get to the Sligo game. It's been so long.

That sounds a very desparate, urgent post from John83. My first concern is not UCD but can John83 survive 'til the Sligo game?

I'll try Harpo. Maybe watching Montenegro v Ireland will keep me going, but it's just not the same, even with a really, really big telly. If only Ireland were struggling with recent poor form, led by a wily old manager, and had difficulty scoring. Even then, whither Conor Kenna?
