    Sammo

Upon reflection of the season, I have revised my view of Sammo's importance to the side.

He is by no means the perfect striker and does not appear to, yet, be a natural finisher (yes I know that does not flow but drop the pedantry for a moment).

However, he is a hugely important part of our side and there have been games where he has been immense. The key issue that I think needs to be addressed is getting somebody, ideally a sniffer, to play with him.

Perhaps that is Paul Byrne, perhaps others, but I don't think Sammo can play upfront by himself.

I know we all moan about his finishing but his general play can be extremely effective.

Wewould miss him if he left during the window.

I kind of agree. He's incredibly frustrating to watch, but he is a decent striker, and I'd rather have him than, say, get Robbie Martin back, though it's been pointed out to me that I didn't see much of Robbie at his best.

I think Sammo's at his best when he's the only striker. He holds the ball well with his back to goal while others run on.

Robbie Martin's goal ratio, for UCD, was up and down like a prossie's underwear. He got double figures one season in the Premier 2001/02 I think and he got double figures in the promotion season 2004. He never came close to double figures any other season.
Longford played him midfield most of the past season .
