Should obviously be stated that (a) he wasn't publicly chastising the players and (b) he doesn't pick the team, so it's no different to me chastising the players.

I dont think it is the same as myself or yourself chastising the players pineapple stu.we are just fans. Sherro bankrolls the club more or less and to publicly chastise a player/players like that to a fan is uncalled for and unprofessional.
