UCD are a good team but I don't see how they'll comfortably finish in the top half.

Thought Fitzgerald was class. The co-commentator was making allowances for the Shamrock Rovers full back being right footed in a left back role, but Fitzgerald did not deserve to be on the losing side.Less Whining

What are YOU doing to make it better?Comment

I think that was his first league start, possibly even his league debut. He played very well in the league cup v Harps. He's a very nice prospect, loads of pace and eager to run with the ball at his feet.
Pity he's not left sided; Conan's been playing so well that it would be a pity to move him to the left (heck, Doyle doesn't really deserve to be dropped, but someone had to make way). You can't spell failure without FAIComment

I thought the Shams deserved the win, they ran through our midfield way too often and the defence had to make up for it. You're always going to concede soft goals when you're defending your own goal so often. I don't like playing Finn and McFaul together, they're too similar, but Tony doesn't seem fully up to speed this season.
On another night we might have gotten a draw, or at least scored, but we can have no real complaints. Fitzgerald was class so we can take at least one positive from the game.Comment

Shane Fitzgerald and Shane McFaul made the eleven-a-side.com team of the week.
And Bald Student McFaul and Finn aren't similar, presuming that wasn't some joke about their hair.Comment

Hoops fail to impress Mahon
From Independent.ie:
PETE MAHON has praised the work ethic of Shamrock Rovers but believes they play a brand of football which is far removed from the great sides of the club's past.
The UCD manager was aggrieved after his side's 2-0 defeat to third-placed Rovers at Tolka Park on Monday night as he believed his team had been far more pleasing on the eye.
"I certainly thought we played the football," said Mahon. "We found it hard to deal with the long ball and the physical approach of Rovers.
"They don't play with the tradition that you would associate with Rovers. They get the ball early and quickly and put a lot of pressure on teams. They work really hard and that's a credit to their manager, I suppose, but I thought, in terms of football, we were the better team and the two goals went against the run of play."
Better
Rovers boss Pat Scully acknowledged that his troops are capable of playing much better, although he was pleased with a win which keeps his side in the title hunt.
"We didn't play well," admitted Scully. "We were really very poor - our passing was absolutely dreadful. That's not good enough. We got the three points and we'll take it but that won't be good enough next week against Pat's and the further challenges that lie ahead of us.
"We want to win games, but we want to play well and we're better than that. We know we need to improve drastically."

Gregg out Quigley in after that performance.
Rovers may have had lots of chances but our keeper gifted them their goals.Comment
