    Dicker gone

According to the Irish Times today, the club have confirmed that Dicker will leave next week, most likely to a British club. Best of luck Gaz! Hope we pocket a few bob out of the deal, and we have a ready made replacement in Ronan Finn to slot in and facilitate a return to 4-4-2 for next year.

Bit of a shock to come out of the blue like this. Hope it's somewhere he'll find first team action. I feel he's a player who could improve his own game a lot by playing in a better team. Hopefully there's a nice wad of cash involved for all parties too. Best of luck Gary and thanks for the service.

shame he's leaving but it was inevitable i guess. he really stood out during his time with the club i thought - put in some really dominant performances for such a young lad.. seemed to have all hte skills to be a top midfielder, and hopefully he will go on to achieve that

I'm assuming we agreed a deal with the club he's going to, so I hope there's some sell on/international appearance clauses.

A pity to lose him but I can't say I'm especially surprised. Best of luck to him wherever he's going.
We're not arrogant, we're just better.

Not surprised really. Best of luck to him wherever he goes.

We seem to have all agreed that he and Finn were tough to slot into the same team, so providing this means a substantial transfer fee for the club (and no doubt Cherry Orchard(?)), this is good business.

He is a great player. Him moving on was inevitable unfortunatly. I'm confident that he will be a success in England.

I think we would have been better off keeping hold of Dicker (if we could have) until the Summer at least. I think Finn needs more time to adapt to the role he will be playing in. He will be playing in a deeper position than he is at the moment. Dicker has better prescense in CM IMO. I think Dicker's passing is better and is a lot more physical. I don't think Finn is ready to play CM week in, week out yet. However one thing that Finn has over Dicker is that his passing is more incisive than Dicker's and makes more forward runs.

I disagree. With our players, the best thing for them is throwing them into the team straight away. Sod the "time to adapt" stuff...

It's like that time Daddy ran over your cat? Remember that, when daddy ran over your cat? What I'm saying is, we'll just go down to the store and get you a new Gary Dicker.

                      Finn's ready, IMO.

Well Gary was non committal as to where he was heading after the match.
The same can be said for his family members during it. It seems there may be more than one suitor and he might as yet be undecided as to which one he will choose.

There's been no official approaches. Gary wants to try his luck in England as far as I can see, and the club have no problems with it. There's certainly no move in the pipeline in the next week as the paper put it. But it does look like he's played his last game for us.

Darren Quigley left very early last night, but Pete Mahon assured me that Quigley's going nowhere as far as he's concerned.

A bit like Deery at our club, Dicker, whilst an underage international, has never struck me as standing out as a top-class performer in his position.

However I'd take Quigley in the morning, even accounting for his mistake in the Brandywell.

Hope you get a few quid for Gary anyway.
