We usually have lots of them, as we usually have players on one year deals. Only one I know for sure is Quigley though.
You can't spell failure without FAI

Most are out of contract, I'd say. Thing is that for anyone under 23 (i.e. most of the squad) who's been with us two years (i.e. most of the squad still), they can't leave unless either (a) we want them to or (b) we get paid. So it isn't a huge issue either way.

        Players Out Of Contract

Tony McDonnell a cert to stay with us.
        Alan Mahon probably will too.
Who else is out of contract who is over 23?

Ally Mac needs to be kept. Our defence is the best functioning part of the team and he's a very expperienced head in there and a great player. Also, in terms of status he's the next Tony McDonnell. He could well break the appearance record eventually, isn't that enough motivation to stay for.

I agree Allie Mc should be kept as should Paul Crowley. Young Keith Doyle and his namesake Derek are performing well. If we can hold on to players of this calibre we are capable of being potential Cup winners next season, either League or FAI and that has got to be a realistic target for a club of our size every season. It's called progress.

With regards to other clubs having player's contracts expiring, Pat Jennings is available on a free transfer, if he wishes to leave Derry. If we lose Quigley what would the chances be that we could get him?

Also Big Clive is almost certain to leave. I would love to see him back at the club. Bohs are after him.

Jennings would probably return if we guaranteed him first team football.
Anything less is not much use to him these days. Big Clive? Depends on what sort of wages he'd be looking for I expect. But like Pat, we might have to transfer someone away before we'd even look for him.

We don't need defensive players at the moment. Even if, say Quigley and Allie Mac were to leave, we'd still have Neil Gallagher (?) and Shortall, plus the next breed of scholarships.

We need an attacking player. Preferably someone with a decent bit of pace. And who can score.

Aidan O'Keefe out of contract at Bohs. They've offered him a new deal though, so he would probably choose them over us with it being a permanent deal and him getting his game now.

He was supposed to be coming to us during the last transfer window at one point wasn't he?

When did we last get someone like that from another club who was a first team player with the other club?

Can't see any real chance of Clive coming back, he's bound to be offered more money somewhere else. I don't think Jennings would be much of an improvement over Neil Gallagher who's only on loan I think.

Yes, on loan, but some other Bohs player got injured and they needed him again.

                              Robbie Doyle?
