    Club sponsors

Just wondering who sponsors the club other than O'Neills and Budweiser?

    No-one, I think.

Budweiser are the main sponsors, O'Neill's are the kit sponsors. There used to be sponsorship from Ballygowan for water. The only other free ads in the programme are for Umbro and eircom, both of whom are league sponsors.

Oh yeah. Plus there's the Chubb Ireland stand (Cascarino stand). I suppose you could add in all the pitch sponsors as well.

The Star are sponsors of some sort too. They sponsor the cup in the Superleague anyway.
We're not arrogant, we're just better.

Shouldn't we try to make a bit of money out of advertising? Lawnmowers maybe?

The Bud sponsorship is a good one as it ties in with the Superleague. Leaf through the programme and you'll see every player is sponsored. We also have the advertising boards. I'm not sure where you see us squeezing out more.

Ok bit of background for those who might be interested as to how we got Budweiser as sponsors. They were about to be launched in Ireland back in 1986/87 winter soccer season, and so wanted to appeal to young people.
They were the anchor sponsor of an American Colleges tournament at Easter known as " The World Collegiate Championships". U.C.D. were invited to participate in April 1987 . It was held in New Mexico and U.C.D. won the tournament. Budweiser were launched in Ireland that year and became our sponsors from the 1987/88 season on to the present day. When the government finally ban alcohol sponsorships from sport , we will have to find someone else.

Could we try and get sponsors for the programme next year? One idea could be for the Ormonde Cinema in Stillorgan. I'm sure business of that has gone down since the Dundrum Town Centre opened so surely they would be interested an advertising opportunity. It is far cheaper than Dundrum so an ad highlighting that could be of interest to them.

Also if there's anyone you know that might like to have an ad in the programme ask them. It can do no harm.

And if we were to get advertisements in the programme would the money go to the club or the supporter's club?

The money would go to the SC, yep.

Problem is getting the time to go out after ads - even for small amounts! Feel free to volunteer though.

The main man at the Ormonde Cinema is Brian O'Gorman former UCD Committee member. It might be a very wise idea, to consult Diarmuid McNally first before doing anything in this area. Mainly because fundraising on behalf of the Soccer, IS PARTLY HOW HE EARNS HIS LIVING!

It's worth a go. My dad has contacts so maybe that could work.
