Four points dropped in a week. We really need to get something out of both our games against Drogs and Shels. We missed a few easy chances when we were 1-0 up.

For the second time in a week, uncharacteristic defending cost UCD all three points - this time when throwing away a 1-0 lead against Bray in injury time of a match the Students had done enough to win.
UCD had a strong wind behind their backs for the first half, and it was no surprise they made most of the running, with Bray often struggling to get out of their own half. Such was the wind that Alan Cawley was only inches over with a free-kick taken from well inside his own half - Bray keeper Chris O'Connor was sent scrambling backwards in ensuring that the ball did clear his crossbar.
Conor Sammon was causing the Bray defence no end of problems, getting in promising positions and forcing a fine save from O'Connor in the first half, as did Derek Doyle early on. Doyle was also on the end of a Stephen Hurley through ball on 35 minutes - he beat O'Connor to the ball, but his first touch was just too strong and the ball ran out for a goal kick.
The goal UCD had been threatening came on the hour mark - Conor Sammon bustled his way through the Bray defence and his shot from just inside the area was sent just inside O'Connor's near post, giving the Bray keeper no chance.
Having taken the lead, UCD showed no intention of sitting back on it, and in the last ten minutes, both Conor Sammon and Pat Kavanagh were denied in one-on-one incidents; the former after a superb recovering tackle from the Bray defence and the latter by a fine save from O'Connor.
In injury time, however, Conor Kenna left a foot high up in a tackle to give Bray a free 25 yards out. The Wanderers hadn't really threatened Darren Quigley's goal throughout the match barring a Robbie Doyle shot on the turn which was easily collected by Quigley, but Doyle's free-kick here was fumbled on the line by Darren Quigley, and the UCD keeper failed to recover in time to scramble the ball away before it crossed the line.

Right now we sit in 7th, as high as we can possibly finish this season. Let's just hope we can consolidate that. There are positives to take from our last series of games. If we can cut out the sloppy mistakes we can start winning some games.Comment
